Regarding the steering shaft bearing- I had the same thing with the same new bearing, I found that bending the bearing retainer inwards a bit took care of that, it’s thin metal and that way the bearing sits tight 💪🏼

A little bit of bearing grease would of helped you ease up the job, control arm " bushings".

Love the T/A content! Really helps motivate me to work on my'89 GTA. The entire car is stripped down, on Jack stands. Now would be a good time to do the Astro van bushing swap. Why didn't it work on yours? Makes me hesitant about doing it on mine. Keep up all the great work!

Great job on this, I actually kept my stock front springs when I did my struts for the same reason...I hate the front jacked way up high on new front springs and not knowing if they will settle. I did have to replace the rear springs because they were shot but the fronts were still good. I look forward to more Trans am videos, its really coming together.

Have you seen the GM lower control arm tool that mounts on a jack to install the springs? I took it home from work way back in NY when I did mine. It was also for the S10. You would raise up the arm and put the bolts in the pivot after.

i used a jeep cherokee steering shaft bearing and it worked perfect for me. The shaft had play, a little less then yours, but the steering felt a whole lot better. A lot less play in the actual steering. Maybe 1/8" play in the steering wheel.

Great video as always!! I know what you mean about the coil springs i replace my about a year ago on my 92 Z28 . The front aren't to bad they look about stock ride high but the rear are a little high and I'm sure thats why the ride of the car is a bit stiff. I've been looking for some used rear spring but no luck so far.

Once you had them out and took the old bushings out, you could have treated the upper suspension arms with phosphoric acid to get rid of the rust, and paint them.

Hi, I just changed the bearing for the steering on my 3 gen firebird and experienced the same slopp. Ended up just tapping the tube abit on the end so it would sit abit more snugg and that solved the slopp. Quite a different drive afterwards. Annoying that it is like that, but i guess that is just how it is sometimes with aftermarket. Following from Norway, keep up the good work! - George

I enjoy you videos too much, making yourself do something your not into would be like watching a hostage video. I think that you should focus on what your into, then just make videos about that, I always like watching people have fun, because then I have fun. Doesn’t matter if it’s cars or cooling or hunting or whatever, if they enjoy it. Then I enjoy it
