@waynebollentin989
@waynebollentin989 3 жыл бұрын
He said they scraped the track before the race. That gets you close to a no prep surface in most cases. Specially if you don't have a lot of cars putting rubber back down. That track does usually have really good prep but even the best prep won't hold the power that car makes. The air was much better than what he had in Florida and there's a very fine line between blowing the tires off and not. So can't completely blame the track. Now I would have been little more conservative off the hit, knowing I was the faster car and spun earlier but James knows what he's doing. Although we would love too. We can't get it right all the time. Haven been 1.10 60ft on a similar tire. 1.17 isn't bad at a new track with a new setup with that car.
@Jeremy-Biggers
@Jeremy-Biggers 3 жыл бұрын

@waynebollentin989
@waynebollentin989 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jeremy-Biggers I'm originally from NJ but moved to Georgia few years ago. Atco, Cecil, and most of all Budds Creek in Maryland have really good surfaces. Some of the fastest times have been ran at those tracks specially Budds Creek like I said. Over the last 20years I've raced all over the country too in the NMRA, NMCA, grudge racing, etc. So I know what a good surface is and SGMP definitely usually has one for sure.

@waynebollentin989
@waynebollentin989 3 жыл бұрын
@@luckysniper31 lol, I didn't say otherwise. If you read my last comment, I said that I know it's usually a great track. I've personally raced on it and many others over the years but in this case though the track had the rubber scraped off before the race. That makes a big difference specially if there's not a high car count. That doesn't mean he couldn't or shouldn't have done better but like I also said before. There's a very thin line between fast and blowing the tires off on even the best tracks. There's many factors outside the track conditions. Like suspension setup, how hard you hit the tire, boost and timing ramp etc. Also you can't compare the track prep you get at a big event, like at a duck X event or similar. There's a night and day difference.

@@randomhero123 A few companies make traction control for drag racing. It’s expensive, but works down to 1/32 of a rotation of the driveshaft. Grudge racers are usually overpowered, and compete on who can put the most to the ground.

@@randomhero123 lots of especially endurance racing cars have traction control. It's just adjustable in like 11+ steps and the level used in dry conditions only prevents you from spinning the car if if the steering wheel is dead straight and the car is in a gear higher than first. Any steering angle and you can spin the car with the traction control on.
