Hi, Dora! May I ask you how to actually get to his grave? Is there any way you can explain how to reach that spot? Is it near the main entrance, for example? There must be so many paths that I'm afraid I will get lost and miss this very special place. Thanks in advance. Verónica

@@jr9249Right now is the perfect time to do what they are calling a self guided tour. George Michael's grave is accessible this way but who knows how long for. Numbers are limited and to be honest, everyone is very respectful so it is very tranquil. I felt very privileged to have had the opportunity to pay my respects to someone whose talent kept me company during a lonely time in my life (boarding school). I am not a fanatic. He was a human being and I respect him as a much loved member of his family. I am planning to visit again to see the cemetery in a different season. I would like to do the tour one day as well, so that I can learn more about this unique and beautiful place

I grew up with him and his great music. He was a big part of my youth. You said his dead saddened you more than anyone. I suffer from severe depression since 5 years. On Christmas day i woke up and turned on the radio. The very first words i've heard: George Michael was only 53 years old............! I only thought no, no, no! not him, please not him! I cried one week or more i couldn't even say. And lay in bed 3 days. Maybe because of my depression i'm unable to hear "Last Christmas" ever since and i loved it so much! Exactly 3 years later his beloved sister Melanie died on Christmas day, too! RIP George 🥀 and RIP Melanie! 🥀 Together again............. with his/her mum!

I live five minutes away and George lived up the road from me in Highgate Village...he was adored by us neighbours and we found out only AFTER his death, that our Christmas tree and Highgate High Street decorations had been paid for anonymously each year, by, wait for it...Mr. George Michael!! But that's only one of many anonymous donations that he made, that became known only in the days after his death...the IVF donation of £8,000 to a couple trying to conceive, that he'd seen on daytime telly, is my favourite...he adored daytime telly and would often phone in to a live show (Loose Women was his favourite) and have a chat with the presenter... following up the next day, with a Fortnum's hamper for the girls, thanking them for letting him be on!! A truly beautiful man, in body and soul.

@@Lorenzo-cp7qs Sorry, I don't understand...the child conceived with the IVF that George paid for was a girl...and the couple went on This Morning WITH the little girl in the days just after his death...she was already at least a year and a half old...even if the baby had been a boy, they'd have already named him shortly after his birth! The only people who knew who the donor was, were the This Morning producer, and a couple of other people, certainly less than five...George had stipulated that the couple concerned must NOT learn who the donor was...the producers told them that it was an anonymous businessman...so how could they have named the baby after George?

Beauty has to be in the eyes of the beholder, because it wasn't very beautiful to me....greenery was pretty...but that's it....George was so awesome and so missed, rest easy George and your sister....he was one of my favorites, like Aretha, Whitney, Natalie, Luther, Marvin, Prince etc...how could his grave not be found?😥💜🙏

Since the Christmas of 2019, his sister Melanie is also with them. Yes, it is beautiful but he deserves to have his name on it. It's been stated that it never will have his name put on it which makes no sense. Everyone knows it's his anyway. Yes, he is a beautiful soul with unmatched talent!

@@krisushi1, you are so right, I do agree that he should have a beautiful head-stone with a beautiful inscription. I have no idea who is taken over the care of his estate now that Melanie is gone. I feel that she was the one that was very solid and sensible and knew 100% her brothers wishes. It’ll be interesting to see what happens going forward. Who ever is in charge whether it be one person or a group I hope they realize how George was loved the world over and how his fans cherish his music and want to honor and acknowledge the gift that he gave.

@@rosemiller2990 The members of George's immediate family are his sister Yioda and his elderly father. Apparently Yioda, who I think was the eldest sister, has sold Mill Cottage which George had left her, which was where George passed. That was quite a surprise as I never thought she would sell it. I always thought that George had the best times at that property. There is quite a bit of depression in George's family which showed with both sisters but more so Melanie when he passed. The song he wrote 'My Mother Had A Brother' is a true story of his uncle taking his own life due to being gay. Just like George, his sister's also felt things very deeply as well. Melanie had let herself go healthwise and had several health issues which may have been left unattended as she became a recluse and refused to leave the mansion he left her in London. She even had her food delivered and didn't see anyone. She suffered a type of Diabetes, amongst other issues, which is listed as the cause of death although the coroner is still to finish his findings. She went into a Diabetic Coma and was found on Christmas evening by her sister Yioda who went to check on her. There was no suspicious circumstances involved. Many say that she died of a broken heart but passing on Christmas Day makes it very suspicious as to how she really passed. Maybe she couldn't cope any longer and stopped taking medication which caused the coma? We'll never really know the truth, just like the bizarre circumstances about George's passing. Anyway, I won't go making assumptions but would it really hurt to have George's name on his headstone with the words he had constantly stated? I read an article recently that stated that George's name will never be added to the headstone. That's just cruel and doesn't even make sense. The location of the family plot is public record and can be accessed around the world. In four years there has been no vandalism nor hoards of tourists so what's the concern? There are many other very famous people buried there too who don't get the treatment that George does. I'm sure he would be shocked at the inconvenience that his gravesite has caused. It's awfully unfair on those who want to visit their own loved ones but can't because of this special schedule to prevent too many from seeing George's grave. I just believe that this great and brilliantly talented man deserves to have his name on his headstone and the words he wanted. We can still live in hope.🤞🇦🇺

@@alameas6358 Every admirer of George, who is playing in the background, would know where it is from the endless photos. It's also a matter of public record. I'm at the other end of the earth in Australia and I know what it looks like and where it is positioned. I just have a very strong opinion that everyone, whether famous or not, is entitled to have their name on their final resting place. Security would be pretty tight around it or the family wouldn't have felt that they didn't need a guard placed there permanently anymore. As Australia is a considerable time zone ahead of Europe and the US, we got the news on Boxing Day so that's when I commemorate his loss while playing his music which I'm doing right now. It just hurts that someone who has given us so much hasn't even the dignity of his name on his grave. He's actually buried in the family plot where his mother Leslie is and also his sister Melanie who died last year on Christmas Day in the UK. Both their graves are marked so it's not a big stretch to know George's. For anyone, I feel this is so wrong. We all deserve to have our name, the one thing that we completely owned, on our grave or memorial. Even if it was his birth name but to leave it blank is so completely wrong. I don't think that it would cause a rush of people to flock to it as those who would want to see it would already know where it is. Today, I just plan on relaxing with a nice cool drink and be serenaded by George. Merry Christmas for you today, ours is over for another year.

Have you heard of Rob Lamberti? He does tours singing George Michaels songs. Sounds like him and incredibly looks a lot like him. He's on youtube.

@@iloveschicken6527 I went to look for this Lamberti, the voice as George does not have, and the resemblance leaves, if you look at him briefly, perhaps. George’s songs are better sung by Sam Smith, and anyway his band has remained active and the songs they sing well, not this Lamberti.

@@loopyloe1 I guess it's possible that Jean has no close family living. She was a good actress and a very attractive lady. Maybe, one day when the covid has flown away you will be able to visit Highgate cemetery on a nice summer's day and lay a flower on her grave.

It was in a pleasant spot . It was a simple stone but would a bigger monument be better?

I wish the dislocated headstones would be placed back where they belong though. With all that foliage they could easily break or move away from the intended grave. All graves have the right to be marked, except in extenuating circumstances (Dictators etc.).

@@jr9249 He is buried at Highgate Cemetery in North London. Enter through into the West Cemetery. There are many pictures of his grave which sits between his mother Lesley and on the other side is his sister Melanie whose graves supposedly both marked. Unfortunately, George's isn't which makes me very sad. The plot sits on or near a corner. If you watch the video again, it's shown at 03:16. It's public record, so you can contact the cemetery or relevant authorities to find the exact location before you arrive. It's a public cemetery so you'll have no trouble seeing it and a chair is placed opposite. I'm sorry I can't help further as I'm quite ill at present. Hope all goes well and you get to pay your respects. I wish I could help more but simply do not have the strength. Research as much as you can on the internet before going. @@jr9249 No. They only wanted to deter fans from turning it into a tacky shrine. This is a public cemetery after all, so the public has every right to be there. The cemetery already has guards present but George's family were just being extra cautious. It turned out that there was no need for this guard and was removed. The cemetery will have opening and closing hours so check for these prior to going. There are many other famous and interesting people buried there and you may want to spend some extra time wandering around.
