They were rocking out the whole World Tour 2023 and everyone were having a blast with the setlist, the new songs from latest album and the classic hits, especially GC! either you hate or love it, is a song with crazy amount of views and they don't wanna leave behind in any of their setlist. Dance choreography and metal had never been seen before and they somehow managed to make it works creating their unique own genre called kawaii-metal, mixing Jpop (not Kpop) and heavy metal along with many more sub genres and rhythms, you'll have so much fun going through this journey. This isn't actually live sound, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. They have their own band called Kami Band introduced later on that same show and after that Kami Band become regular at live performance but they're not official members, only these trio are the front women. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"._ The backing band here are called "baby-bones", they don't actually play they're just mimicking air playing instrument, later on this same concert and after 2014 you'll see the girls performing with a real band called the Kami Band, more of them later. Awesome first reaction to Babymetal, glad you enjoyed this! These gals are 13-year veterans of the music scene who started in 2010 when they were 12/11. This show is from "Legend 1997" concert, in Dec 2013, celebrating lead Su-metal's 16th birthday (Yui & Moa were 14). Babymetal is absolutely a live-performance act, and has over 9+ years of world tours, 4 albums, and 60+ songs to their name. Their music has such a wide variety of styles, but the common thread is energy, enthusiasm, and an uplifting and positive message. Sometimes just fun and goofy, and other times heavy and somber. They are just an amazing and talented bunch, all around! This song is literally about girls wanting chocolate, but worried about gaining weight, but they've worked so hard, so pleeeeeeeeease! Some chocolate!!🤣 A few suggestions: *1). Road of Resistance (Official, Live):* This Jan 2015 performance of their epic power metal anthem is in my opinion, one of their best performances. This song is also one of Babymetal's staple show closers for the past 9+ years. *2). Akatsuki (Budokan, 2014):* This is an epic Su-metal solo to fast driving metal. A great showcase of her vocal capabilities even at 16! *3). Monochrome (Babymetal Begins, Clear Night, 2023):* Great showcase of a more grown-up Babymetal in thier mid-20s doing a somber, emotional, yet uplifting song. *4). Metali (Official Music Video):* Their newest single from Aug 2023, a fun festival song getting all the boys and girls to sing and dance, while featuring artist, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine goes to town on the guitar. Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You are not wrong about their energy and stamina - and they do keep that up for the whole of every concert without a drop in the quality throughout the whole time. They are exhausting to watch, but by far the best entertainment of any kind that I've been lucky enough to find in decades. 'Gimme Chocolate' is one of their fun songs (they just want some chocolate but worry about their weight ... but it is chocolate, it would be so nice and they would be so happy, so can they just have a piece of chocolate please).🍫🍫🍫 It is not their best by a long way, but it is their most viewed song and they still play it in most of their concerts (this video is 10 years old now, it was filmed in December 2013) it is great fun and it always gets a great reception from the crowd - and you wouldn't believe the mosh pits it starts, but you will struggle to find another song they've done that sounds quite like this one. This was the official video, so although it was filmed at a live show (Legend 1997 celebrating the lead singer's 16th birthday in December 2013, the other two girls were 14) the audio was taken from the studio recording ... shame as they sound better live. BABYMETAL were formed in 2010, the brainchild and passion project of their metalhead producer Kei Kobayashi who was inspired to try this mad idea of fusing metal with JPop aesthetics and vocals after seeing lead singer Su-metal with her previous group and being so impressed by her vocal talents and stage presence. He thought it might just inject some youth into and help rejuvenate the stagnant metal and rock music scene - as it was in Japan at that time. The three members (Su-metal - lead vocalist, Yuimetal and Moametal - backing vocals, harmonies and in charge of hyping and involving the crowd through their choreo) were aged 12, 11 and 11. We have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet. Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band. Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot until 1st April 2023 when one of those dancers, Momoko, was finally revealed as the new official third member. BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings. They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music). BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They first appeared in October 2012 and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014. You didn't see them in this video (the guys at the back in skeleton suits were called Babybones and they were not playing the instruments ... early on BABYMETAL did not have the funding for a live band so the instrumentals were pre-recorded and played on the backing track). At this show the Kami band came on for the last 5 songs - it was the last time they played only the encores. In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced and they have been supporting BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours since then. They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. I know you will be getting a load of recommendations and suggestions for more songs - go with any of them, you can't go wrong, but remember - although the official videos are all good and worth seeing, BABYMETAL are a live performance act - that is where you will always see - and hear - them at their very best. I will suggest another early song (it predates 'Gimme Chocolate' by well over a year) from this same concert, Legend 1997, but one with the Kami Band playing live too ... try 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997, you can find good quality videos for that from either abr metal or from Gans Tomas.

Hi from Ireland, this was there big start but wouldn't be fully representative. Some people unfortunately didn't view them serious hearing this as a first listen, but like me those that heard road of resistance live in Japan next (same era and age su 17 years) got completely hooked. I now have all the albums, definitely listen road resistance next, then go up ti date with monochrome live at pia, and a sumetal solo "amore live at Wembley" I guarantee you will listen to everything in-between, looking forward to your reactions

Well, you’ve opened a can of worms! BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around for a bit over thirteen years now (they started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the band in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. Welcome to the foxhole. Nice reaction. The is easily the happiest place in Metal. While Babymetals songs vary from song to song. Their songs have become known for their strong up lifting positive messages. That and Party time. Their first song Doki Doki Morning is about waking up late and rushing to get ready for the rest of the day. Now that NEVER happened to me of course but I am empathetic to those its happened to. LOL. Since then, many of their songs have been trying to tell us why they woke up late to begin with. Headbanger, went to a concert, Uki Uki Midnight, partied all night. Pa Pa Ya went to a music festival, Night night Burn, Partied all night. Hmm that one seems to come up a lot. LOL Their music has a metal base and usually a Jpop vocal style on top but what they put in the middle of that is Babymetal magic that makes it all somehow work. Some of that is the kawaii factor. Which is why their type of music has become known as Kawaii Metal. Kawaii means cute and is a whole vibe in Japan. Their stage band is known as the Kamiband. Greatness in all of them. This video was filmed just over ten years ago and Babymetal are still going strong. The girls are only in their mid 20's now, so they have been performing as Babymetal for more than half their lives. Over the course of their 13+ year career, they have released four studio albums, 18 live albums, done multiple world tours including a 94 show tour in 2023, collaborated and performed with some of the biggest names in metal, and won numerous awards particularly for their live performances. This performance of Gimme Chocolate at Legend 1997 is probably their most iconic performance, being the video that went viral in 2014 and bringing them worldwide attention that opened doors for them to perform at major metal festivals in Europe and helping build their global audience. Since then they have gone on to become the most internationally successful musical act to come from Japan, and have put the eyes of the metal world on Japan and opened the doors for a whole generation of Japanese metal bands to get noticed internationally.

Yes one of the usual entließ into Babymetal aölthough we have to admi it's a bit dated Su (the singer) was 16, now she is 27, Moa 25 and Yui left the Band 2018, her replacement joined offizielle the Band last April (20). And they just finished their World Tour 1 year, 92 concerts and an audience of roughly 250.009 people, about 40% female and ages from 10 to 85. They are simply a Phänomenen even in Japan. They speculated to finish after their 10 anniversary, but after covid they simply decided we continue. You xan identifizieren each Babymetal songs although they cross everything that is slightly Metal. Although they are a real live Band, they are Support by two Bands, first the Kami Band, and nowadays the western Kami Band, originally for US and europe Concerts only but now they even replace the original Band often enough in Japan.

It should be mentioned that they are playing to an audio track. The "Baby Bones" band is a mime band. The 2nd half of this show featured the Kami Band, which is a real band. You can see them in Headbanger song from this same concert.

The vocalist is always selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal world. Great reaction and I love that you replayed sections that really got to you. This video-last I checked had 186,000,000 views and is the video that really first put Babymetal on the radar of the west-and is 10 years old. The trio of girls performed together through 2017 when Yui-predominantly stage left-left for still undisclosed health reasons. Su-lead vocals and Moa-stage right are still going strong today with the permanent addition of Momo all aka Sumetal, Moametal and Momometal. I mention all this as this is a classic performance of Babymetal very near their start-there are many epic videos from the earlier days of Babymetal. Now as they've matured and grown their performances are legendary and the music as always genre bending, exciting and always unique. I hope you'll do more Babymetal reactions as you brought a great energy to this one.
