Bibi was his then-girlffriend who organized the first fundraiser for Ren's treatment. Crutch is meant to show the hellish times a significant other will go through trying to help a seriously ill lover.

One of my absolute favourite Ren songs. It’s the perfect expression of fear and agony in lyrics, vocals, melody, and even the video. Heart wrenching and stunning. And never has distortion sounded that emotional! Also this song is very different from everything else in his catalogue. Definitely a special one. Unfortunately it doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves, so thank you for checking it out 🖤🐰🕳️

Thanks for doing Crutch. Absolutely underrated IMO. Just a great song: heartbreaking, beautiful and deep. 💎 And thanks for your nice and heartfelt reaction, Lucie. 👍 And a great video as well. It brilliantly shows his fragility. Did you notice how their silhouettes form a closing curtain when she sings that line? The song is from Rens darkest days, when he really didn't think he was going to live much longer. Bibi said in an interview that they said their final goodbyes twice because they thought he wouldn't make it through the night. Much love and a big hug to everyone out there who is suffering. And to everyone supporting their partners, friends or whatever in times of crisis. ❤🫂

Thoughtful reaction. ❤️💜. This is as much art as it is music. He's physically bare as he bares his soul. This was recorded on a very cold day in Oct. 2015, a couple of months before he finally got diagnosed correctly with Lyme disease. Along with his physical pain, he's portraying the psychosis he suffered at that time because of the disease. He talks about this video in the description or pinned comment.
