Notice that Alastor rarely swears in the show. So you know Lucifer really got to him when he's reduced to a petty "Fuck you!" instead of a calm, witty comeback 😂

Tbh that should've been the only time he did it. But then they made him drop 2 more f bombs within only a minute of each other in the last episode and it really took away the novelty.

Love the symbolism at 8:07 Lucifer’s face just says “ok here we go again” but the next scene, when the spears are aimed at Charlie, that’s fear. He’s fine with himself being the target because, as Adam points out, most hated being in all of creation Lucifer, he’s used to it.

Jeremy Jordan was perfect casting for Lucifer. I don't think anyone expected him to be like this. I expected him to be like the typical a-hole dads Vivienne makes, but no, He's a loveable goober who just wants to reconnect with Charlie. When he tried to disuade her from her dreams, it was to protect her. He might not be good at this, but you can tell he's trying, and that he genuinely loves and cares about her.

it's funny to think that the most powerful figure in hell is a depressed akward dad who makes ducks lol. I also love that he still has the confidence that comes with that power, despite how he is.

My theory for the ducks is that he was fixated on the moment Charlie first laid eyes on one of his creations, the part where she sneaked in while he was working, and so he held on to that memory of her smile despite being estranged for a long time. There's also that line he sings, "I've missed that smile."

Fun Fact: Mimzy’s song (more specifically the lyrics) is basically a nudge that fans have been waiting for 10 years for her to finally make an appearance. She was originally supposed to be part of the main cast but was dropped.

I am so glad they made Lucifer such a caring dad. Sure he's kind of a doofus who isn't exactly good at this, but he is legit trying and does truly love Charlie. Also Hearing Alastor use profanity is GOLD. That’s how you know he’s really upset because nobody really gets to him.

"More Than Anything" honestly reminds me a bit of "Show Yourself" from Frozen II (which I also love a lot!), but in a good way, which is why it's probably my favorite Hazbin Hotel song.

Hell’s Greatest Dad has to be one of my top favorite songs in this show. I don’t know if I’m the only one, but it does give me You Ain’t Never Got A Friend Like Me vibes for some reason 😗 And More Than Anything always gets me emotional. I swear, Hazbin hotel’s songs really give Disney vibes but for adults. Meanwhile Disney honestly hasn’t been doing a good job with their songs, like Wish for example. Like they’re ok but… it’s just missing something.

Vivziepop revealed in a tweet that she somehow missed Sir Pentious making the sad face at 2:33~2:37 until the release of the episode and it cracked her up 😂 it does sort of feel like it was added as a joke given how he's the only one in the bg who moves (until the close-up with Angel)

"More than anything" has to be one of my favorite songs of the show. Lucifer is far from being a perfect father: he was depressed and scared to reach out to Charlie, because he didn't want to be rejected again. But he understands her dream and the will to save her people more than anyone else and he's willing to protect his daughter from being forced to watch her dreams fall apart. Sure, their relationship needs to be mended and it will take time, but they made it clear that they still care for one another and want to be present in each other's lives. The first time I heard this song I was in tears, it was so beautifull. There's nothing more powerful than parents love for their kids.

There is no implications that this version of Lucifer tempted people to sin. He merely gave humanity free will and they fucked it up all on their own.

A important detail to take onto consideration is that Charlie says Lucifer was the one who let the exterminations start but I don't think that's what happened In the first episode Lute (Adam's lieutenant) says that Lucifer got Charlie and the rest of hellBORN kind a pardon from the exorcist blade. Meaning that it's possible that the angels came to Lucifer without giving him a choice in the matter but Lucifer promised he wouldn't fight against it if they didn't hurt hellborns. And it's possible that he made that deal strictly to save Charlie from extermination

Like Lucifer said he tried all this before and heaven crushed him for it, so he sacrificed the sinners to keep Charlie safe and because he couldn't find anything worth saving in hell. Remember, his depression also comes not just from fear for Charlie but also fear of his failure, since he gave mankind free will and saw all their evil choices as a result after being banished to hell.

I have a theory that Lilith kept Charlie and Lucifer separated. He looked so sad when Lilith took Charlie away. But as to why Lucifer doesn't contact Charlie often, He's probably scared of bothering her. He loves her, but He doesn't want her to hate him and think he's hovering. But He ended up withdrawing too much.

Wonderfull episode. And I know that Alastor doesn't want people to know where he has been for the past 7 years, but I want to know that piece of information very badly. Also it's very great that Alastor thinks of Charlie as a daughter to him. And who wouldn't want Alastor as a father figure to them? I know I would, and Alastor swearing that Lucifer was very funny.

It does feel like he or Lilith got it in his head that maybe Charlie was better off with him and he's in such dissolution or turmoil over his own depression that he probably believed that- he's had to live with seeing only the Bad of the free will he gave humans so I wonder if he thinks he makes everything worse for the most part

Perhaps the symbolism lies in the fact that people have believed in the devil for centuries, that he corrupts and defiles them, when in fact he has not done a damn thing. And all the people themselves. They are constantly doing something, creating something, trying to blame it on someone else, believing that there is something that makes them act badly. In the old days it was Satan, now it is aliens and other terrible theories and thoughts on this topic, but I hope that they will understand that everything depends on them and only on them, that it is up to them to decide how to live and what to do, and if there are any secrets and mysteries, if there is something beyond our understanding, I hope that all of them will be solved, found and discovered, and there will be no consequences for our world. There will be no wars, no conflicts, no diseases and disasters, everyone will live peacefully and without problems. In general, they will create a bright future or bringing a horrible.
