Sympathy for the devil? You just might have some after you've seen him on Lucifer, the brand new show based on the acclaimed Vertigo comic series. In this new DC All Access clip, Tom Ellis discusses his eagerly awaited new show, introduces us to some of its characters and shares how this devil made a fan out of Sandman creator Neil Gaiman.

He is brilliant in it. I very much enjoyed the first three episodes and couldn't think of a way to make the Lucifer character better. I enjoy his humor, cynicism and the way he portrays an Angel that's experiencing self-doubt for the very first time.

+Demon Knight Dean If this show's Lucifer is being even semi-faithful to the character he's based on, then he stomps SPN Lucifer no question. Vertigo Lucifer is basically almost another God. He has infinite will that allows him to manipulate all of creation to his whim. The only thing he can't do is summon matter out of nothingness, which is his brother's domain. This Lucifer is also immortal, and in the cases where he enters realms where he loses his powers and immortality, is still a force to be reckoned with due to his nigh-omniscient intelligence. Vertigo Lucifer has also been able to handle beings who have assumed the role of God, by killing them before they gained their power, so SPN Lucifer and the Mark of Cain and/or the Angel Tablet would be of no consequence.

***** Not really a place for RPing, and if you're going to RP in a comment section as Lucifer, then at least do so as the Lucifer the video is about. The wings are restored when they're placed into an angel's back. A very painful process, physically.

I would love to hear some of Hurts music in this show. Their latest album has perfect sound for this kind of show. Like song Wings (when Lucifer gets his wings back) or the song Slow (very sexual song).

he's in human form so he will never be as powerful as when he is in his purest form plus he was originally samiel who was the most beautiful and peaceful angel originally bringer of light so I think he holds back a lot cos he's not evil deep down

I saw the pilot of this a couple months ago, and that got me interested in checking out the comic. I actually don't like the comic's take on Lucifer as much as I like how this show portrays him. I'd like to see Neil Gaiman's re-take on THIS version of Lucifer. More subtle and down to earth, yet so much power, ability, and future possibilities in this fashion.

+Paul A DAigle (Pachilles) I read the first issue this week of Lucifer. And basing on that, the comic is interesting, but Lucifer is cold compared to Lucifer from the tv show. Not saying that the comic is bad but I prefer as well the tv show version. And by the way, Vertigo launched a new Lucifer series and it seems to be more similar to the show.

Remember before Lucifer became Lucifer he was also known as Samael the Seraphim Archangel of Light and Justice..I think the real reason he lost his devil face is because he is delivering justice for the innocent and punishing the guilty..In the Bible Samael's wings were two different colors one wing was pure white while his other wing was black as Onyx..meaning Samael is a representation for both good and evil.

This show is so fun! FOX has a terrible history of killing off great shows (Firefly, Almost Human) so I hope they give this show some time to establish an audience. Tom Ellis is fantastic!

+olivia twyst Well we all know the story of Lucifer right? He was banished out of heaven by God and he made hell. Sound like a boy and his father got into a fight and the father kick his son out of the house. Then the boy found a new home to live and made new friends and family. That's how we get this show.

+salamander337 Actually, the theory is that Satan - a very high up dude - and a slew of angels rebelled against God. I want to say it was out of jealosy or for power or something. Anyway, theologically, God is the source of all that is good, so if an angel were to reject Him, the angel would be fallen, God's enemy and, therefore, evil. What really gets me though is that people think Satan rules hell. No, that's just where he will go to recieve his own punishment. Again, theologically, Satan and his fellow demons are still roaming the earth, causing Christians to go astray. Satan is called the god of this world in at least one bible verse. Don't get me wrong, though. I enjoyed the first episode, but it's a work of fiction. A highly entertaining, but theologically faulty work of fiction.

No, Tommy from Arrow is played by Colin Donnell. Lucifer is played by Tom Ellis.
