I recall a few years back in the early 2000s watching the Australian summer cricket telecasts from Channel 9, the commentators mentioned that the Barmy Army also raised funds on the sidelines of the match and then donated the cash to one of those children's hospitals in Melbourne or Sydney or some such place. Chants of "super Mitch" were absolutely sarcasm. Everyone thought he was shite at this point. Massive credit to Mitch for coming back in the next home series, taking 38 wickets and proving himself as a top class bowler. Only after that did the poms give him respect as he'd well and truly earned it.
