Nope. CPH4 refers to a molecule that is secreted in pregnant women after about six weeks of their pregnancy. It is important because it helps in the growth of the brain of the baby and also for the development of the brain in the baby. By itself, it has no such effects like in the movie. Of course it doesn't give any 'superpowers' or any of the elevated stuff in the movie.

My guess would be, (not defending the writing or the editing) perhaps her language capacity hasn't kicked in yet and she couldn't waste any time? It seems in this movie she evolves by the minute. But also of course, they needed something to show Lucy's bad-assery since it's still a Hollywood action flick.

I doubt in that short of time she was able to read but not be able to understand the same language by speech. I just think it's bad writing/directing. You wanna suspend disbelief - I get that. But I also as a viewer, wanna believe some things.

Every time that passes her brain capacity turns up until she reaches 100%...every time that passes she gets new knowledge and abilities, can change the atoms itself when she reaches a certain percentage. It's in the movie, she achieve maybe...20% on this so her language interpreter still hasn't kicked in yet.

i was wondering the same, my theory is that you don't expect a cute western blonde in a hospital casually carrying a handgun , OR someone thought it would look nice, but that's far fetched , someone would have made a comment in the set probably :P

I think most of the time people don’t immediately pick up on things like that, especially when Lucy for example was walking with purpose/determination whereas someone milling around looking confused would draw more attention, so to someone who may have glanced her way as she walked by they wouldn’t look twice bc at first glance she doesn’t stand out.

Just before that scene she listens to people talking all around the car while driving to the hospital. And she analyzes the language. I'm not saying it's good explanation, but there is some at least.

@@ry.butterfly Not sure if it will be of any help for you, but I have done a lot of research. Adrenal fatigue can cause high Cortisol levels, which can throw everything out of whack. So getting Cortisol levels tested at a endocrinologist might reveal if you have something like Addison's disease, which can cause low blood pressure, abdominal pain and a crap load of other symptoms. Addison's disease aka adrenal fatigue where your adrenal glands are underproducing can make you want to eat a lot of salt (due to the Potassium imbalance - usually high Potassium and low Sodium levels, if I remember correctly) and sugar (some get low sugar levels, as well). They have meds to fix that if it is Addison's and treatments work very well. I haven't had my Cortisol tested yet, unfortunately. I'm also going to get a colonoscopy to check for Crohn's, Diverticulitis or Colitis, since I have a lot of lower colon pain. Crohn's can cause some of my trademark symptoms of blood pressure/pulse fluctuations, high blood pressure during 'attacks', the large amount of canker sores aka apthous ulcers that I get in my mouth and have since I was a kid, etc.

@@HanginWitLucid Lot's of clichés and cinema tropes. Inconsistencies with how her powers work. Things left unexplained or ambiguous. And some pretty silly and incoherent ideas (defying gravity by crawling on the ceiling in her cell, time travel millions of years in the past, or her ultimate ascension into god-hood culmination in a flash drive, Lucy, a god amongst mere mortals, coming a split second away from being assassinated by a frumpy gangster with a pistol, etc...) This is all to say nothing of the fact that this is seemingly a very popular drug, and that even a random Thai neurosurgeon knows the power of the active compound, and yet somehow, miraculously, Lucy is the only person on the face of the Earth to become godlike using this drug. In fact, even after telling people what caused her new powers, they seem largely uninterested in the drug. I think Limitless handled this scenario much more plausibly, by making the drug highly coveted to the point of people killing each other over it. I also felt like there were precisely zero stakes whatsoever in this movie. Once it becomes clear that Lucy is an invincible Jedi with telekinesis, telepathy, omniscience, etc, the movie is basically just a cake walk for Lucy. Like playing a video game with all the cheats on. It's an interesting premise for a movie, and a great cast, but I think they just didn't think it through as thoroughly as they should have, and they tried to cram WAY too much into a very short film. This would have made a better show I think, so we could get 10 episodes to watch Lucy slowly change, to explore the implications of her new abilities, etc. But 90 minutes just wasn't enough to flesh this story out. It just goes 0-100, and then ends.

@@scottk1525 Well, here’s what I will say. 1) Leaving things ambiguous is kinda the point when you deal with things like this. 2) You call it silly and incoherent but those types of things are outside our realm of understanding. 3) She didn’t become a flash drive, she condensed everything she learned throughout her journey (likely the secrets of the universe) into that flash drive). She pretty much became Omniscient. Besides, she got shot near the beginning of the movie when she first started getting smarter, so I don’t see how that would’ve worked near the end lol 4) Ingesting the drug seems too strong, but it was lower pelvis and ruptured into her body and blood stream. Difference there. Unlikely scenario to happen to anyone else as it’s clearly a new drug that the drug dealers were testing before it got it. 5) The stakes didn’t matter at that point because the MC dying doesn’t have to be the ending, finding out how it would end with this growing power became the interesting part. 6) Honestly, it would make a great show, but that’s why they made one like that, this movie wasn’t meant to be that just because we would like it. It was all it needed to be.
