In this episode Caroline and Liz outline how Lucy Letby was telephoned at short notice by her manager and asked not to work her night shift following the collapse of the 17th baby in the case, Baby Q. In a series of text messages to colleagues she said the call had ‘messed with her head’ and prompted her to have a ‘meltdown’ because she was worried she was ‘in trouble.’
Lucy Letby is accused of the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of ten others, while she was working on the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital. She denies all charges.
The trial continues.

What beggars belief is how the hospital management kept their eyes firmly closed even though it was so incredibly OBVIOUS what was going on. They are as culpable as she is!

Kind of sick to think of how she manipulated Doctor A. The whole time she's killing babies, she's also cozying up to her coworkers to make herself seem less suspicious. Absolutely insanse

I feel this is linked to the Dr she "loved" - ( not that he is involved ) She cried when he came in to give evidence - got out of her seat She was either wanting him called to the emergency or seeking praise from him when she was involved in the resus or comfort from him that these events happened to her ...... ?

There is something with the doctor she was wanting him to be in the ward and that room , very sad and she must have a mental impairment as the crimes are so terrible.She is a different breed of person..

Back on the day she has been found Guilty and I think everything will come out eventually!She declined to appear for the verdict she's guilty as that is not the usual thing to do 😕 It won't bring these babies back and the parents are forever living with this..I feel glad that she's been given a guilty verdict!! She must be mentally ill to do such heinous crimes..RIEP to all the babies who lost their lives at the hands of this monster ♥️💔💔

SHE SEEMED INNOCENT TO ME UNTIL THE BABY'S CHEST DRAIN CAME OUT ON THEIR OWN. NOW THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE AS CHEST DRAINS ARE VERY SECURE , SHE MUST HAVE PULLED IT , EVIL WOMAN.

This is a link to a freedom of information request on death rates at the countess it shows early neonate deaths 2013 = 3 2014 = 3 2015 = 8 2016 = 7 2017 = 2 2018 = 2

Hmmm I don’t know now. After hearing her defense. What if the hospital was just looking for a scapegoat for the deaths? It sounds like there was incompetence all around. I’m confused with Doctor A saying her documents were perfect then later turning on her???

@reeva5735 @gertyrood you both could be right. That’s the only explanation I can give if she wasn’t guilty. I guess I have to look at it as this: if you were being accused of killing babies, and you didn’t do it, you would be angry and not necessarily go to a state of victim hood. Your right @reeva5735 the colleagues couldn’t ignore it any longer and didn’t want to think the unthinkable and probably too many complaints were being drawn up/ talked about her strange behaviour.

More charges to come for Lucy yet. Next round said to be 12 charges, 2 deaths, 10 attempts. If Letby had an ounce of dignity she'd say how many.

@@reeva5735 all of the babies LL was there apart from one she denied baby K but she was seen by doctor and nurse standing over her doing nothing. The death rate dropped in that hospital when she was removed. Until unit was closed. I think she is guilty most definitely.

@@kaytlynbryan8687 I heard they closed the baby units down shortly after her arrest but when I googled I see a women who left a comment on the hospital website nine months ago saying she had twins and can’t thank the staff enough they was so helpful.

I believe I read the baby collapses stopped as soon as she was removed and put on desk duty. Nothing when she wasn't there and was on holiday either.

Air doesn't get into these Babies veins accidentally nor does manufactured insulin. Was it Letby? The case for the defence needs to be robust to deflect guilt away from Ms Letby at this point. Sincerely hope she did not do this, heartbreaking for the Parents.

IF and I say IF, Letby was on duty at night ALONE, it surely indicates the understaffing of the Ward - which COULD be contributing to incidents where up to 16 babies were to be cared for

Beverly Allitt got plenty of coverage, Myra Hindley received more press attention than Brady way back when, that murderous woman Joanna Dennehy who stabbed 3 guys each on seperate occasions got broad press coverage. I would say however, a woman always gets far more sympathetic media coverage and greater public disbelief in their actual guilt. Miss Letby proclaiming in evidence that she collects pieces of paper as she finds it hard to to get rid of them whilst we know the Police found a shredder in her house 🤔 is like someone saying they collect literature as her book bonfire burns in the back garden. She's put up an oftentimes ridiculous defence with the type of cover stories a 3 year old would concoct. She looks increasingly guilty with every day she spent on the witness stand. Her defense are going to need a miracle to secure a Not Guilty verdict in this trial by the looks of things. Her feminine advantage won't sway a jury with the ludicrous defense she has put up so far.

Maybe she was framed and because of her insecurities maybe it was easy to make her believe she have done it. I honestly believe this is a real possibility.

Zero chance of a framing. Those poor babies she attacked would recover as soon as she was off shift only to be attached again when she came back. They weren't collapsing when she was off shift, on holidays or in the desk job. Nobody BUT her was present in every case. She played the role of "little insecure girl lost" to deflect suspection & even gain sympathy! A sick & extremely mainpulative narcissist. Full of self-pity that she wouldn't get married or have kids & raging with jealousy at all the loved- up couples coming to her unit to see their little babies, she didnt want them to have their happy ending. She had the power to burn their worlds down & struck. Even gloating on their grief stalking facebook etc. keeping confidential hospital notes & other trophies of her crimes. Heinous excuse for a human.
