Yeah, "AI translated" media in practice just means that you have an underpaid translator with almost no time to do all the work because they "just have to clean up the AI translation". But if you've ever had the sad and frustrating experience to have to correct someone else's translation, you'd know it's way more work than do it from scratch.

Yep, machine translation has been used for years, especially when fan translations are included. Because it means the heavy lifting can be done by a machine, then tranlsators and editors have a lot less work to do.

Localization has been a thing for years and sometimes things get changed in the english dub, this has always been a thing and the anime industry isn't in any danger. In the Spanish speaking world, when an anime gets localized, it's usually by giving certain characters either accents or straight up giving them slangs, like how Denji in Chainsaw Man talks in the Spanish dub like a Mexican. It works because 1. it's funny as shit and 2. it gives a new side to the character without making it incoherent with their personality. And you can take my work when I say that it never gets political, even for politically chaotic countries like Argentina.
