@@gerrysteven5567 I agree with what you said but I think his point is that the south is not recognized to be put in the top ten. @@actionverseentertainment9241 I honestly don't think there are southern rappers who are heroes. If there are, they aren't many of them. Look I understand everything Gipp has said but you will never see cats from other coasts behave like this aside from down south cats specifically Atlanta cats. Yes OutKast and Goodie Mob were booed at the 95 Source Awards, but they put everyone to shame and won album of the year eventually. And I recognize Outkast and the other folks contribution to HipHop, I even agree with Gipp that JayZ isn't #1for some of the reasons Gipp listed. But he needs to get over it.

Yo yo! I hear you gipp, ima New Jersey cat who lives in and loves Atlanta… When it comes to NY, It’s the birthplace of hip hop.. The saying goes, “if you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere”, is very true.. The mentality and culture of NY is second to none.. United Nations, financial district, fashion district and black history.. The “Pad and Pen” and lyrics were serious for NY Artist painting pictures especially in the late 80’s and 90’s.. Groups like Tribe, De la, PE and brand Nubian didn’t rap bout money… Wu tang, guru, AZ was rapping bout knowledge of self, and spitting bars.. Every region is known for what they rap about… We love the south, 8ball and Mjg are dope as well as OutKast, goodie mob, Luda, mystikal, pimp c just to name a few.. Peace

I’m from Detroit and I agree with everything Gipp said. I’ve alaways had a great deal of respect for Artists from the South. So when i hear niggas from other areas saying they got from the mud, and i respect every grind, no rapper has had as hard as the ones from Atlanta, Mississippi, Texas and all over the South. Niggas from NY could literally get on the Subway and go to Def Jam. Southern artists didn’t have that type of easy access to a major label. They had no choice but to do they thing independently and i mean these guys was selling their tapes from the trunk of their cars and local rappers from Detroit was doing the same thing so thats why I can respect the hustle of southern rappers.

Gipp is speaking on the chip on the shoulder that Atlanta has always had when it comes to Atlanta. He’s speaking from the perspective of someone who’s felt the bias from New York media, but it almost comes off like a victim’s mentality. New York looks for bars, Atlanta and Miami looks for shit that bumps in the strip club. The West Coast is about what sounds good in the ride. What Gipp is saying is correct, but he’s using his own bias to speak on bias.

No comparison between Kane, G Rap, KRS, Rakim, De La, EPMD, LL Cool J, Lyte, Latifah etc in 88-94 to other regions at the same time. We couldn’t relate. But we showed love to Ice Cube, Snoop, the DOC and the OutKast, Goodie Mob later on in the mid 90’s

Big Gipp is biased as hell. Hip Hop started in New York and he can’t handle it. Ludacris repped Atlanta well. Him building relationships was not kissing ass. Maybe this is why he gets acknowledged today and you act like you don’t care but you’re not acknowledged like he is. Let me guess. You don’t care because you have the respect of the people you respect. Man save it. Atlanta houses the biggest acts in music history. No one can deny it. Yet Big Gipp wants to keep acting like no one respects the south and it’s comical. Scarface put Ludacris on the map in essence building those same relationships. Stop hating Gipp. Respect your contribution but the South has its respect. Been had it.
