Joe, Tell me more. My understanding is that come 1930 Ludwig was about to get out of the banjo uke business. They’d consistently lost money on the endeavor. In 1930 they introduced the banjo uke featured second in my video. The pot and resonator being nearly identical to the Wendell Hall but the fingerboard and peghead veneer now a celluloid Art Deco design, black fingerboard and white peghead veneer. After 1930 though, that was it for Ludwig and banjo ukes. Does that sound right to you? Andy Eastwood is my reference for that second uke in the video being made in 1930. I did notice a slight difference in weight between the WH and the Ludwig ‘Deco’, the Deco being slightly heavier. When I had the hardware off that seemed to be the case as well, the metal hardware being a bit beefier than the WH but subtle. Any info or clarification appreciated. Thanks.

NeilG, Thanks for the feedback. Agreed. With most of my posts running closer to 2 minutes this 6 minute post seemed like an unusually long one - and to add demos an eternity of sorts. That and I’m still tweaking the ‘Deco’ to get the sound it should have. Hopefully within the next week or so I’ll do a sound comparison. Keep in touch. Corey
