I'm not a Leeds fan but I discovered this series of videos during the pandemic and they're great. A must for fans of old school football. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for all your work in putting these together. They tell the social history of Leeds better than anything else out there.

Fascinating videos. As a Carlisle fan I have seen Leeds at their lowest ebbs both in the 80’s and in the noughties. Fascinating football club.

Just found this series and I have to say it's wonderfully put together and a great reminder of my adolescence and early adult years, even though Leeds are not my club. Is it really 40+ years ago?

I remember this season like it was yesterday. Can’t thank you enough for these videos. Even though I’m still a season ticket holder and we’ve got Marcelo these are the days for me. I hope the kids going now will have the same memories of Elland Road and match day in 30 years time.

Although the home support was poor, Leeds away support increased dramatically that season, with good turnouts everywhere. I only missed 1 match that season. Arsenal away was more memorable for the off field events, than what was going on the pitch.

The same happened with City(Manchester) home crowds started to dwindle but away following usually comprising a large chunk of hooligans hit the road in numbers on so called bad news tours.

These are great vids even for none Leeds fans. Love the clips from the papers and interviews that would be out of touch even forty years ago! I’ve had a chuckle at the likes of crazy directors on hooligans “we need to meet violence with violence” fucking nuts. It’s also telling that you could change the name from Leeds to Man City or Newcastle etc and see the same story of incompetence and stupidity all played against the back drop of social decay and deprivation as Thatcher shut down industry and three million of us finished up on the dole. As a Man City fan I didn’t got to a single game 82-83 as I was skint, after I had joined the army I had a few Bob spare so started going again on the odd weekend off, we also plumbed the depths and more. Happy days!

Just think - if Sniffer had resigned, people would be saying "Pity, he was putting together a promising run and could have done really well next season." Saw Andy Ritchie score the greatest goal I ever saw - a chip from the centre circle over the York goalkeeper at Scarborough.

Just like it was yesterday. Makes you appreciate the current ‘good’ times (if you ignore a pandemic and variants or two). It was slow death from Don Revie leaving till the inevitable relegation.

Yes what we Leeds fans in Malaysia want to see is the match at the Hawthorns. What was really happened. There were no highlights in Malaysian tv back then. We just knew it from the SHOOT magazines.

Another brilliant episode! Remember it like it was yesterday. That yellow away kit…my first kit too! Shame about Sniffer…did well to finish 9th that season…but football was poor! We didn’t care though…we supported the lads!

Dreadful defending from Gillespie for both your goals against us. 🙃 Interesting to see how football finances have changed. The income was predominantly reliant on gate receipts 40 years ago. Good film.

At the time it very much did look like "Grounds for Optimism" and that Allan Clarke was a young manager who could grow into the job and take the club in a new direction. But what was to happen next was unthinkable!?!

@@damienabbott9805 his signings for that season were complete mismatches. Peter Barnes Frank Worthington Kenny Burns .... ahhhhh
@damienabbott98053 жыл бұрын
@@mohdazmi10 Bringing Frank Gray back was the right thing to do. Peter Barnes was brilliant at Manchester City and WBA and had he maintained that form for 1981/82 (and lived up to his Leeds price tag) may have even made it into Ron Greenwood’s England squad for the 1982 World Cup, but sadly that was not to be. Kenny Burns and Frank Worthington were diabolical signings.

@@damienabbott9805 yes Frank Gray went to Leeds was right. He is Leeds through and through. It was sad to see a big team like Leeds relegated but it is history.😭😭😭😭😭😭 I followed Leeds since 1980 and to see them relegated just before the 1982 WC was really disappointing.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Wayne Clark was a carbon copy of big bro' Alan. Walked like him, ran like him & scored like him. Unless Alan was moonlighting..
