In my view the designation Luhya was meant to unite the tribes into embracing each other as one people; countless wars have been fought by Africans and indeed the world along tribal lines. It is a noble act to unite people along their similarities. Stable nations are those that have abandoned their differences and embraced their similarities, hence you don't know any German tribes, you only know of Germans. The term luhya originally come from a verb oluyia meaning an amblicode (olulela) connection . For example we luhya can refer to Nandi as oluyia of kalenjin a people who belongs to Kalenjin.
