It was only after Luke and Laura became an incredibly popular pairing (after the first summer on the run) that the discussions were completely dropped and the official version became a seduction. In fact, the encounter was deemed a seduction only once on screen. Basically the issue was ignored for 20 years until General Hospital revisited this dark bit of Luke and Laura's history.
