Hey Darth'd this may be a bit *bold* of me to suggest but us it possible to change the thumbnail? Because seeing Jake Skywalker made me think this video was about sequel Luke and I was half expecting it to be a meme since Luke lacked situational awareness in that film. I feel like OT Luke would be a better thumbnails since it better represents the contents of this video is is more likely to get OT fans of Luke to click, watch and enjoy.

I don't think we see the same mannerisms in ep4, so I'm guessing it's supposed to be part of his Jedi training and not something he'd developed before that.

Yeah, I recorded a live reaction to use for an upcoming video, and I said the same thing. Really disappointing they didn't go with the Legends version of Luke who embraced emotions.

yep, I've written off this Luke as just young Jake Skywalker. I'm gonna enjoy the Kotor Remake and new swtor expansion and just ignore Disney canon unless they erase it or retcon everything and make something good in the modern era.

@@wingsoffreedom3589 Well...on the flip side, does changing that one single attribute of Luke's character really change who he is? He can still be the same noble, loving, brave leader we've seen, while also believing that Jedi need to be emotionally cut off like they've always been. Granted it's very difficult for us to mentally retcon the version of Luke we expected, but just because we didn't get what we expected doesn't necessarily make him a bad character.

@@DarthdYT it makes him inconsistent with his established principles. In empire, he charges to save his friends. Instead of taking that experience the way Yoda and Obi-Wan would like when we see him in ROTJ he chooses to lean even further into attachment and try and ignites his father love instead of killing him, that's decision leads directly to the return of Anikan and the fulfillment of the prophecy of the chosen one. Luke is thematically designed to be what Anikan never could and his lightside reflection. While his father's attachment fueled his fear and then selfishness, Luke's never allowed his to lead him into darkness even though he almost did when fighting Vader to protect Leia. The whole point of order 66 is to show that the centuries of corruption in Jedi philosophy had caused them to stagnate. They instituted policy against attachment out of fear of falling to darkness and that very fear made them blind to their mistakes. They could not properly address the turmoil in Anikan because he had to hide his attachments out of fear and Obi-Wan never got close enough to Anikan address that fear individually. This is what Revan tried to explain not all attachment leads to the dark side but fear of attachment or the loss of it very well might. In the EU Luke, after redeeming the Skywalker name leads a new Jedi order after 3,000 years of decay into a new golden age. Anikan Destroyed the Jedi and Sith wiping the slate clean and Luke reformed them into the order we haven't seen since the days of the Jed'aii order. Luke is the living redemption of both his family and the Jedi he is the new hope for the Galaxy. Until Disney shot all that greatness in the heart and scrubbed Luke of his entire character so he can rehash the order until it was destroyed in a lazy offscreen order 66 2.0 aswell as undermine Anikan's sacrifice and prophecy by having Rey kill Palpatine. Many fans were hoping Lucasfilm would just ignore the movies but this is obviously Jake skywalker because just like TLJ Jake's persona Contradicts Luke's character and Values without going through an onscreen character transformation to justify this inferior character.
