Excellent video and great information. Fast forward to July 2022 and Lumintop is now selling 10440 Extension Tube for GT Nano.

That's one crazy little torch. Cool that you found a battery tube that fits that so it'll accept the 10440. Well done on another great video & I'm very surprised that you don't have more subs than you do cause i feel you offer way more info than other channels that i follow. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Thanks V much - but to fair, my earlier vids where a bit shit (at least) in terms of video quality. If I knew then what I do now (a common theme in life!) my reviews would have been better presented and displayed :) I do actually use the lights I review having given them many nights/hours use :)

What a FANTASTIC lil torch !🔦 I got the extension tube and the 10440 battery and it last alot longer and it's about 200 more lumens!! Get the extension tube man..I don't doubt it will reach out to 450- 500 meters now! It's definitely much better.

maybe it's old info because I just bought a gt nano and a frog. bought (2) 10440 tube with (4) 10440 3.7 350mah Batts. I have no way of testing like you, but my extensions are lumintop made and branded. both lights seem to work great with them. again, short term use so far. I like them.
@flashlightsuk1422 Жыл бұрын
This vid, is out of date. When I got mine the extension tube wasn't availble and the rumour was around possible issues with the LED - emphasis rumour! Many months on and lumintop are supplying the longer tube, which is all I use nowadays, no issues for me and no more rumours :)

I ask the seller and he sold me a dedicated extension tube. It looks like the short, original one, except the bunny marking. I can see the light even at 390m, while its not pitch dark. At 290 m i see it clearly on a white wall. Distances according to Google maps.

Hi, I have the nano and just got the extension tube. I noticed you used max ramp but not turbo. My Nano has double click for turbo. Maybe when people put a high drain battery they get the blue led...I see where I can get a 3a vapcell or blue jacket cells that are icr not high drain but wondered if you can still access turbo with them. Yours doesn't appear to be high drain. Thanks, cheers.

The only thing I wish they'd have done differently, is to make the head wall thickness, thinner. It could have been 1.5-3mm smaller in diameter had Lumintop not made it unnecessarily beefy.
@tylervercetti41872 жыл бұрын
They are leaving margin for better heat capacity and dissipation I guess, also for some extra strength.

How is the battery life compared to the 10180? I just bought the tube off Amazon. I'm also wanting to find a clip that will fit so I can use it on a hat.

I find it funny when people think they can cause damage by adding what essentially is a bigger heat sink allowing it too cool much faster than the original tube...

Is there a possible way to find a two cell tube, and connect the batteries in parallel. That would be a pretty sweet flashlight in my opinion.
@flashlightsuk14222 жыл бұрын
I haven't come across one.Since I did this video Lumintop released there own tube extension but only for one cell.
@Matt-zo6rt2 жыл бұрын
Wish they would come out with a two cell. I prefer throw over flood flashlights, but all the throw flashlights are too bulky and heavy to carry. If anyone knows any flashlights that are two cell aaa size with a tight hotspot, let me know. Thanks
@ramonarroyo55732 жыл бұрын
Can you use a button top cell with the tube?? I got the tube but the 800mA AAA DIDN'T WORK
@azy68683 жыл бұрын
Yes, 2.84 volts is over-discharging the cell. But the cell is not damaged beyond use or unsafe.But peace of mind is a different subject altogether and it carries more weight; I would have done exactly the same as you and play it safe. A fresh battery means you can sleep soundly at night not listening for that hiss... Bang! The Samsung factory recommended operating voltage range from the datasheet for lithium cells are: OK - Normal Operation Voltage: 2.5 to 4.2 - Over Discharging Voltage: 1.5 to 2.5 NOT OK - Cell Un-useable Under Voltage: 0.0 to 1.5 - Cell Un-useable Over Voltage: over 4.25 If the cell is discharged less than 1.5 Volt DO NOT USE and dispose of safely. If the cell is charged greater than 4.25 Volt DO NOT USE and dispose of safely. But the story doesn't end there. These Samsung data sheet values are derived from cells under load(drawing current from the cell). This means that the values are lower than when cells are unloaded(open voltage). It can be seen that a loaded voltage of 2.5 volt will immediately jump up to 3.3 volt when the load is removed and slowly reach 3.4 volt after 1 hour. So at 3.3 volt when a cell is measured with no load, they are fully discharged to their safe minimum value. You are correct, 2.84 volts is over-discharging the cell. But the cell is not damaged. It requires the cell to charged with pre-charging, when the voltage is low the battery must not be charged at full current. A reduced current must be used. But this is feature built into all good quality chargers. When a battery is discharged to this low voltage it may lose some capacity and will lose some lifetime, but is still perfectly serviceable.

You can delete a battery to 2.5 v and then, when it drops below that, it's unsafe. Not the best for the internal resistance but it's nothing that's going to take like 50 charge cycles off the battery (as far as I know). I would post proof of studies on NCA lithium ion but KZfaq won't allow me. I have not seen any proof that dropping below 3v is unsafe or substantial.

You might be right - It's like a game of chicken when ur messing about - where do you draw the line and call it quits?
@shadowmaster80203 жыл бұрын
@@flashlightsuk1422 I personally call it quits at 2.7 v because I don't like going below that.

Would 10440 discharge any lower than the 10180? Not sure what the limits on the 10180. Any idea if a protected cell would fit either in that tube or the official tube that recently came out?
@flashlightsuk14223 жыл бұрын
I don't think 10440 would discharge more - I think either would be compromised. I haven't managed to source any protected 10440's yet. There are difficult to get hold of!
@othername10003 жыл бұрын
@@flashlightsuk1422 yeah it looks like it's an issue there. We can get them here- from battery junction I think but yeah. It would be really cool if they'd come out with a necked-down tube for 14500s. Would leave a lot more options and capacity for only a little bit more length. I'd like to get this one. The head's big enough on this one it's even larger on the next size up. But tiny little battery. Or if they could just have this head on the Micro.

@flashlightsuk14223 жыл бұрын
The issue was suggested to be the ampage of a 10440 driving the led to hard, whereas the 10180's have a 'self limitation' in terms the ampage they can chuck out. Its certainly true the average 10440 can deliver more amps than a 10180 - but like you I wondered if it would make any difference. So far, and I'm still using it, it appears not.
