2 жыл бұрынI wanted to test out the 3 major color profiles on the GH6, which are Natural, Cinelike D2, and VLOG. Even though I loved Natural on the GH5, I'm somewhat convinced that I could use VLOG exclusively on the GH6. However, I'm not convinced that the Dynamic Range Boost Mode is the way to go for cinematic style video on the GH6.

Gosh I'm loving vlog so much on this camera! I've never used it before and learning how to grade it has been a bear, but I'm loving having complete control over my saturation and more detailed highs and lows. Thanks for doing these tests brother!

@geraldundone has a great vlog grading tutorial using the scopes and a color sample card in the image. taught me alot of basics.

Well done. I like the natural personally but with some added pop/sat post. So do you think the gh6 is worth the price premium over gh5ii in terms out iq and color? Need to replace my xt3, appreciate your thoughts.

I got the gh6 and Cine D2 is the way to go if you have the proper setting, the results are stunning and allow me to colorgrade without spending too many hour behind the screen. Thank for the video!!

Isn't "flat" miles better? Only reason i'd use cined over is that it works with the Alex lut.

@@fredriksvard2603 I´d say so too. For daylight I always use Vlog but for night where exposing +2 is very hard, I would stick to CineD orNat

thanks for this cool video - question from a new GH6 owner but experienced cameraman - when exposing with the full dynamic range function at 2000 iso- are you exposing the same for VLOG as you are when shooting with the pictures profiles on - i.e keeping grey to around 45 rise and protecting highlights - to then lift in post later? thanks!

About 3 weeks ago i decided to purchase an ANGELBIRD 4TB CF EXPRESS CARD FOR MY GH6. To have the the abillity to shoot 5.7k 30p prores internal. Formatted the card and pushed play to see if i was good. Suprise! So i made a short showing the GH6 w lil over 2hrs of footage flawless continuous recording. So no need for weight of the ninja! I shot 3 videos over 4tb in the last few weeks. I was going to shoot 4th fireworks in the higher frame rates w the 2.0 update but it came out the 5th. I downloaded 2.0 and now my card wont format and error cf express exceeds 2tb. I contacted all i could figure out. ANGELBIRD IS WORKING W ME TO HELP W MY CAPACITY ISSUE. Ill be using THE ATOMOS NINJA AGAIN! No word from panisonic. It was so nice not to worry bout changing a card and shoot light handheld. Love your show. Thanks!

Happy that the weather is ok now ;) Thanks for this new good content Caleb. I will soon shoot quite the same scenes with 2 cameras, the s5 and gh6. I dont' want to color grade in post, so do you think the natural color profile will be good enough? And would you make the same natural color profile settings on both cameras (for example the one you give us on the video) ?

Out of curiosity: do you like more Natural or Cinelike2 in sunny days? Is Leeming lut for the for editing softwares? Is there this lut for Grass Valley Edius 9? Thanks for your info

i felt like the natural was just a bit more contrasty. i think that cinelike d2 will probably be better during bright sunny days. Leeming Lut is for any editing software that can use .cube

thanks for this - its what we want to see, how it handles low light. I had a question - I thought the full sensor 4:3 was for using anamorphic lenses, aren't you losing a lot of vertical resolution by cropping 16:9 into the 5.8K? Forgive me if I'm wrong.. be great to know your thoughts on the 5.7K compared to this.

Omg these colors are beautiful. Is it a different profile than the S5? Different Color science? I Was thinking of adding a 5th S5 to my gear for wedding shoots but I still have my Gh4 lenses so i wonder if its worth going back down to m4/3. I heard the Gh6 has really nice I.B.I.S. The S5 body is cheaper now but the Gh6 seems to have some cool features. do you think its worth it? or should we just wait for another S camera.

pardon a mildly ignorant question, but when you say you applied the leeming lut, does that mean you accepting that as a rec 709 color correction, and just graded for artistic effect only from there?

i only used the Leeming Lut. I used it as the rec709 conversion without using the panasonic conversion lut

Great stuff as usual. Not a big fan of SmallRig going heavy on the branding of their cages and gear now. Makes it look a lot less premium.

What’s your issue with VLOGL? It’s my favorite color profile in the last year (after ignoring it for 3 years)

i've just never liked it. i'm glad you like it and use it. even in 10bit i was having banding and color glitches and just finicky to work with. probably user error 😂 i just found natural was faster and easier to work with for the type of work i was doing.

I want to expose cinelike D well in 4K cinema files. Expose to the right? Higher ISO? Clips often look darker despite corrections. Also in VLOG exposure is so important. Shooting outside in a low contrast situation. Open gate is not in 422. Is that because it's already...... Anyway, thanks for your help and great videos

I see you use the Leeming LUT. Recently I've bought that too for my GH6. There are two conversion LUT's: Pro and Athena. Pro is more agressive than the Athena. Which one do you use?

Can you help me with your variable nd filter. I got the one with the polorizer because I figure best of both worlds. My concern is can you turn the polorizer down to 0. Your thoughts

Hey Caleb. My team (means my brother and I) have been watching your gh5 tutorial since the first man walked on the moon 😂 I guess you were one of the reason why we used gh5 as our main camera for wedding film. We purchased the GH6 and received it couple hours before the wedding!! (stressful day 🤣) also, i broke my panasonic 12-40mm lens so I used CANON NIFTY FIFTY (yes 50mm 1.8).
