Yeah, what a video. You forgot to add those crucial tips such as "dont use camera as a chair", "dont shoot with a lens cap on", "dont forget to press record button". Without those tips people will made so many huge mistakes Caleb... With all respect, you were in hurry to create another video? I thought we should appreticate quality over quantity

Maybe not everyones as absent minded as you, although your cautions are good . . Don't drive over your camera, don't drop it off a tall building, don't shoot with the lens cap on . . You're right . . there are 300 things to avoid . . But better for utube offer things that are truly educational, rather than don't take your camera in the shower with you . . Does he really need to make one eight hour video for dummies . . You can feel free to . . Don't do a selfie robbing a bank . . I'm sure you have plenty more . . When in airport security, don't take every employees picture . . Don't dry your camera in the microwave . . In the ocean it's not usualy a go-pro . . Although it's perfect to slam on a sharks head to make it let go of your leg.

Caleb, dude. I really love your videos but this is an absolute horrible clickbait one. These are perhaps 5 ways to 'get more out of your S5 II X' but half of these are just generic random stuff that have nothing to do with this camera. As a Lumix S1 user I already shoot open gate 6K, have customisable buttons, V-Log and BRAW recording. Not using any of these is not a 'mistake'. It's a choice one can make and except for SSD recording ( in the Lumix S-series), none are exclusive to S5 II X. If you find 5 actual mistakes to avoid, please share that with us, but these 5 are really not cutting it. Peace ps. still admire and love your work, just not digging this particular video

I'm an absolute amateur and I was nervous about shooting in V-Log, but I've been experimenting with it and I'm honestly amazed at the flexibility in post-processing. Throw it in Davinci, apply a LUT, do some minor color corrections, and bam...amazing looking pictures/video. My question is, are there any scenarios where you'd recommend NOT shooting V-Log? I apologize if you've answered this in another video, but I'm still working my way through your catalog!

I have personally loved using the open gate for a square image. It makes me want to use it more. I’m a big fan of square aspect ratio

Very funny video 👍 One of the tips is to use the inbuilt camera tools to improve the video quality - as nailing the exposure. Strangely enough the sky is overexposed and totally blown out in the video 😂 Talk the talk, walk the walk?

Great video! I'm about ready to make this purchase, and I love all the tips I'm seeing for video/live streaming. However, I do have one question. How does this camera do with still photos? Most of the hybrid cameras I've seen are lacking something in the video arena, but this one seems to cover all the bases. Other hybrids that are great at video seem to lack in the photo aspect of things. But I really need something that does well for portrait, landscape, and possibly sports/action as well as video. A little insight into the photography capabilities of this camera could seal the deal for me. Thanks!

Great video and tip as usual and a long journey in Lumix world since your GH5 videos Like Natural color profile btw ...are you still shooting with GH6 or more and more S5iiX? A video about it could potentially make You even more traffic in your channel. And I found a new GH6 for 1399 CHF about same in us dollar after taxes...1000 CHF de Own from release last year 😅😅😅😅

Oh man - some major buyers remorse coming on strong. My s5iix arrives tomorrow and I’m just now realizing that there are no 4:3 or 3:2 / or any open gate modes that support 4:2:2 unless I’m mistaken. I shoot anamorphic 1.8x on my Komodo and I was hoping to take advantage of full frame anamorphic shooting on this camera. If my fears are right how is it possible that there are shooting modes on this camera that can be up to 1.9gbs but not enough bandwidth for an open gate 4:2:2 … If this is the case the camera is going back before I even open it.

Hi Caleb, l loving the posts , But your not giving any Photo still settings - Video ones are great ! But can we get some Photo ones too ?? pls - I ve been using this camera from S1 then s11 now got S2mkX and Video is amazing but having issues using stills mode ! can you help us pls . I have 20-60 mm lens / 50mm / 85mm / 100-400mm lens but getting issues using the light meters in all stills mode not allowing the best F stops / shutter speeds ! my 50 /85mm are f2.8 so OK but in LOW light even using ISO 1000-5000 plus my shutter speed is not great - Metering tried ALL options ! but seems spot is best at present ! is there any better way to set meter for expo / shutter ?? to get better speed on shutter ? thx

To be honest panasonic probably tried to implement it but failed because there's a few months between the s5ii and s5iix, it might be a limitation of the sensor

From my research it seems all-i is best for fast moving scenes where there's a lot of color change, and it's also easier for your computer to edit the files due to less compression. However, the downside is large file sizes. For KZfaq videos, Long GOP will look similar if not the same as all-i due to the compression, so I plan on filming most of my footage using Long GOP unless I'm doing a short "action" oriented video, then I'll film in All-i or Prores. FYI, if you are editing using Davinci Resolve, you need to have the Studio version to edit .mp4 all-i files since the only option for all-i is 10-bit color (Davinci resolve free only allows 8-bit files, the 10-bit files will have weird artifacts and be unusable unless you upgrade). However, the free version of Davinci can edit prores 10-bit just fine, but those file sizes are enormous.

I have to disagree with this 3:27 V-Log is a tool to be used when appropriate. And it's appropriate to use in 'High Contrast situations' it's awful in low light and just not necessary indoors. 14 stops is OK and better than some cameras but it's still not a huge amount of dynamic range. The human eye has 26 stops. You're better off choosing to shoot at a better time of day or just re-framing the shot than using V-Log and hoping it's a magic bullet that will fix crap footage. The natural profile is the better profile for most of the time and V-Log for the rare occasion that it is engineered to be used in. Don't use V-Log as the default, go-to, profile. That's a mistake in my opinion.

The biggest mistake you, Caleb Hoover, could have made is not having made this video. Perhaps.
I tried the Lumix S5iix (my honest opinion)
