This is a taste test/review of the Lunchables Original Crispy Grilled Cheesies. They use pasteurized process American cheese with added calcium on white bread. They were $4.99 at Kroger. 2 sandwiches (162g) = 570 calories

At least they are being consistent with the brand because no Lunchable products are worth the money.

When they sold the original Lunchables packs here in Germany in the late 90's to early 2000's, like the crackers/cheese/ham-variant for example, I thought they were pretty good, but they were only sold for like a few years before they were discontinued. I guess it was because not many people were buying them here.

😂😂😂 hey them turkey and american cheese mini lunchables came in handy😂 even though this grilled cheese lunchable doesnt seem to be executed properly, props to them for expanding and introducing something new i was tempted to by one because i love grilled cheeses...just didnt know how they could actually make it good🤷

Grilled Cheese is one thing I would never buy from a store. I have bought some at diner's before 2020 sent prices skyward. It's just such an easy and buying the bread and cheese, you could get a good 12 sandwiches, depending on the amount of cheese you buy. I bought a Lily's Grilled Cheese on clearance here and while ok, it wasn't great. Plus, an end opened and almost leaked cheese into the toaster. I stick to my tried-and-true skillet. Yeah, homemade sandwiches imo are a million times better, plus you get to do whatever you want with it.

well...that price was for a 2 pack... grilled cheese. So $2.50ea, but even still, rip off city! Can make it at home in 5 min for 50 cents tops and it would taste 100% better! ...dumb idea.

When you consider the regular Lunchables are about $2.00 for crackers, meat, and cheese served cold, and this is $2.50 for a hot sandwich, it’s not bad. It’s not cheap, but you are paying for convenience and the brand name. This is for kids as a quick, easy lunch, usually for school. I would have loved this when I was a kid. Granted, I was able to cook real ones at home if my parents were home. So useless in the house. Even when I was alone, I would just make two pieces of buttered toast and microwave them with cheese in the middle. That’s actually what these Lunchables tasted like to me. I bought them at a Grocery Outlet today for $1.99 for the two. So, I was happy with the price and the flavor brought back memories. The convenience was great because I had next to no time for anything and microwaving them for 60 seconds and heading out the door was nice.

I've been on a grilled cheese kick lately, eating one almost everyday for the last 5 days. One of the easiest and cheapest things you can make lol.

I was skeptical about this one when you showed it. Bread does not tend to work well in microwaves. I actually bought one of those little sandwich maker things for grilled cheese when I am tired and don't really want to deal with the pan process. It works fine, taste great, and as you said the ingredients for grilled cheese are cheap.

What is this thing you bought? I sometimes crave tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich but don't want to deal with the process of making the latter and the extra cleaning up.

@@niqgal3356 I just have a Rival sandwich maker from a few years ago. You just spray with cooking spray and cleanup is effortless.

$2.50 a sandwich is pretty steep I agree. If you're really desperate to use the microwave, go with a Poor Man's Grilled Cheese, which is taking bread from toaster, butter it, throw 2 slices of cheese then microwave just long enough to melt the cheese.

Well that explains why they're on sale by me for $1.99. the only reason why I didn't get it is because I wanted the one with the ham. For $2.98, I can get a loaf of bread in a 16-slice package of cheese. So I'm good. 👍

When you took it out of the microwave and cut into it, I was like no! I really thought Lunchables would have been better. If I feel like being lazy, I will buy Lily’s Toaster Grills. Thanks for the review Kevin.

LOL... I question their nutritional information as well since their math doesn't math 🤣280 calories per sandwich should be 560 for 2, not 570. I've wondered how these are. Thanks for the review! You always do a great job not only describing taste but texture as well.

interesting idea but it’s super easy and probably cheaper to buy a whole loaf of bread and cheese you can make more then you would that way 😅

3 dollars for a loaf of bread, 4 dollars for cheese. 12 sandwiches. You're probably looking at less than a dollar per sandwich assuming the amount is correct LOL.

I think crispy in 60 is referring to the 60 second microwave cook time… as a kid I always wanted lunchabkes as they were so cool looking… then I tried them… they are not good… the best part about them was the drink and snack (cookie, candy, pudding) the actual lunch was alway cheap and just not good… edible? Yes… good? No… I think you are paying mostly for the packaging… and the name…

Who in the world would buy a grilled cheese at the grocery store 😭 And there normally aren't microwaves in school lunchrooms. When I worked in one, there was a microwave in the kitchen, but it wasn't even plugged in! Some daycares have them though. But still.. Make one in the pan real quick. Or even use the air fryer or toaster oven if you need to...

I agree, too pricey. I can get loaf a white bread store brand maybe 1.50, half lb cheese probably 5 for both. I toast 2 slices bread, place cheese on microwave for maybe 15 seconds it's fine for me. Also use ketchup

I will say that is the WRONG knife to cut a sandwich, no matter how terrible the sandwich is. Dear lord, please use a serrated bread knife or something.

I like that you keep eating most of the thing but I don't think I'll buy this. Better off buying a $1.50 loaf of bread and american deli cheese for the price of $5 lol.
