We had Maple Spam at our major stores years ago. They had Jalapeno, Maple, Teriyaki, Bacon and a Cracked Black Pepper. The Teriyaki and Maple only lasted about a year. I still see the other 3, but not every store, except Woodman's, has all of them. I really liked the Teriyaki one. I used to add it to stir fries or to Lo Mein noodles. I can't eat Spam cold either. That gelatin makes me shudder. I cut it up and fry it the very few times I get it. I have broiled it in the toaster oven as well. I use it as a bacon substitute with eggs and toast.

I think you hit on the exact method to prepare that Spam flavor (which otherwise makes no sense), cut thin and fried crisp as a bacon substitute. Nice review.

I've had Spam used as a cold cut on a sandwich, but I agree, it's best fried slightly crispy with melted cheese on a roll.

To my recollection I've never had spam a day in my life, mostly because it's so high in sodium. But I was made aware of the maple spam last year & got some off of Amazon. Haven't opened it yet but I'm glad to see y'all reviewed it.

I was really hoping my Aldi would have had the Maple Spam, but they didn’t☹️ My Husband loves spam, I asked him if he would be interested in this flavor, and he was so excited for me to find it! Maybe one day lol😉 Great Review❤️❤️

I like Spam. I have seen this flavor at my local Walmart, but have not tried it yet. I will give it a shot. I remember when I was a kid Spam would be covered in that gelatin goop, and that kind of grossed me out. They modified it so you don't really get it like that anymore.

I've never had Spam. We have taylor ham here, which isn't the same (and it looks like canadian bacon, but it's not that either), but you cook it in a similar way. You can eat it just fried, but it's mainly used for breakfast sandwiches.. My way is simply taylor ham with cheese on an english muffin or deli-made bagel. 😋 It's bad for you just like Spam, but we're here for a good time, not a long time 😂

Another way to ensure a good, crisp crust ot sear is to preheat the pan first and then add your protein of choice. Thanks for the great and fun review as always 😊

This flavor Tocino and Teriyaki are really good since those flavors are the sweet ones. I hope Spam brand brings back their BBQ flavor back and maybe make a brown sugar bacon spam.

I will look for this. We bake spam sliced in the oven with pineapple slices. Sweet potato casserole on the side. Great for folks on a tight budget!!!

I haven’t had Spam in years, however in my opinion it’s best fried. We would eat it fried or on a sandwich. I’m glad the maple isn’t artificial. This would be great on a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. Great review.

Since you’ve never had it, I would suggest the original. Slice it thin and get a dark brown color on the outside- like bacon 😃

Definitely try the original one first. I've had the lower sodium one. It's still very tasty.

I love how people have issue with the nutritional content of spam… if you don’t like it… don’t eat it!!! Simple as that… my father abd my best friends dad loved spam… and as kids they ate it quite often as times were tough… not everyone can afford grass fed organic stuff and have to figure out how to feed their family

I remember buying this as an Amazon exclusive a year or so ago then chickening out on trying it LOL. After watching your review though I think I'll rifle through the pantry and find and try it! I'm sure the date is still fine! 😂

As you know, we love spam here in Hawaii. I've never heard of eating it straight out it of the can. That doesn't sound appetizing. Fried rice with spam is good.
