Just a friendly fyi, the tape threading is incorrect, it should go over the reverse/stop bar sensor not under.

Thanks for the video. Just started watching this, if the belt moves from side to side when the direction changes then the two spindles are not parallel to each other.

Great job I have four Teac Reel To Reels and just got a Teac X-3R from a friend that has been sitting for a long time. Cleaned all of the pots and switches with Deoxit and cleaned out the old belt gummy residue , Well to make a long story short I put in the new belt everything works fast forward and rewind but the main drive motor will turn on.do you have any idea what it could be. Really great job Explaining how to tear down and reassemble the drive mechanism. I have an old TEAC, silver model, that had exactly the same problem. I removed the Capstan bracket and my belt was one big blob of GOO wrapped around it. Successfully cleaned it up and put in a fresh belt which turned freely as you demonstrated. Plugged it in to see if i could play a tape and I found my reels would not turn the pressure rollers pushed up but the reels would not advance the tape. I did not remove the head assembly and grease. If those were stuck like yours were, would that keep the reels from turning and advancing the tape in play or record mode? Is there some other part that comes into play with that. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for great video.

I bought a new TEAC X1000R. I found that the "reelsize" button is off/disabled.. What influence can it have on the audition? Or on the tension in the tape? I found that it sounds distorted. Do you give me any advice? Thank you very much !

I watched your video a few times my birthday on aug-18 -but I just bought one of these decks only silver 0ne difference also-mine has dbx on it my number is -8958-21-you know what year that was made I got it from a guy in Colorado on aug 28 this year - he said just put new belt on it in july so far works good had to do a few things to a little cleaning so on going to subscribe to your channel like watching thes videos better than tv these days thanks wc
