Thank you for posting this. Really says something about an author when you can still walk into just about any bookstore and find his works on the shelves, and see the way the book reviews of every new author of nautical fiction use Forester as the mark they need to measure up to. As an older man who spent most of his adult life as a professional sailor, I can gladly admit my relationship with Hornblower was the start of a very fulfilling affair with the sea.
