I'm not an HVAC tech, but I do have a working understand of the systematic witchcraft. People need to understand: an A/C system DOES NOT OUTPUT a "set" air temperature. All it can do is lower the temp of the air that it's inhaling. A 40⁰ drop is good, but when the door is open and you're allowing humid, 100⁰ Florida air in from the outside, you're stuck at about 60⁰. But if you seal-off your environment from the outside heat (closing the door, windows and vents), and recirculate the cooler air inside, the discharged air will gradually get cooler (to a certain threshold, to prevent damage to the system).

Newmar slide procedure is, putting the slides in or out is to be done on the air bags not the jacks. This is due to the fact the slides are installed while the unit is on it's air bags not the jacks. The jacks can and will twist the chassis. There is a Service Bulletin on this. I do have a copy if you are at all interested.

@@Fitz710 Trust me - I looked at the Newell, Monaco, Tiffen, Allegro - all of the consumer grade Class A RV's and they all suffer from the same issues. The chassis just aren't built like the Vanhool, Prevost and MCI commercial grade buses. The consumer RVs deteriorate in the sun and with the vibrations from the road. They start leaking and components fail faster than you can fix them as it ages. Go look at a 10 year old consumer RV with 100k miles on it and compare it to a Marathon converted Prevost with 500k miles. You'll soon understand the difference in build quality.

Loving you and the family. Great content! Two things I would like to mention. 1. Listening to your wife reminisce about trips actually made me get all chocked up. You're a lucky man. 2. About the batteries. This applys to all lead-acid batteries. A good, fully charged battery, not on a charger should read 12.6 volts. They're considered dead at 12.0. So your 11.9 was dead. If any of them hit 10 volts, you've got a bad cell inside. Each cell is 2 volts, and there's 6 cells in series to make 12 volts. Hope to see you in Oshkosh. Safe travels to the family!!

Jimmy, Before you waste more money on controllers for the slide outs I would lubricate all the slides underneath with a mixture of Vaseline and veg oil. When slides get sticky the motors draw more current. And the controller detects it as a mechanical fault as a jam. Also lube the worm drive and gear racks. Check the alignment of the slide as well. They can go out of adjustment.

Jimmy been watching since way back when. We spent 14 year fulltime RVing in a Newmar 40 foot 3 slide 5th wheel and 15 months in a 40 foot single slide Class A. Now our 5th wheel was a Kountry Aire which is the next step up from your Mt Aire. Our Class A was a Mt Aire as well. Those were fun times and yes you always hoped those slides would come in because they always went out. We would spend 8 months traveling in the RV on the mainland and then transition to our 42 foot sailboat we kept in HI in Pearl Harbor for 4 months . We towed the 5th wheel with a Volvo 770 535HP N14 and a Smart car mounted behind the cab between the 5th wheel and the cab for a total length of 64 feet 8 inches. 42,600lbs GVW. No CDL as the Volvo was registered as a Motor Home. Your video brought back so many memories of RVing. Be safe on the upcoming trip

I hope this is a helpful comment. You were disappointed after cleaning the coils in your AC units and I just wanted to mention a few things that might be helpful. I used to maintain window air conditioners as one of my jobs for a small company. What I learned is that the cold air from your AC unit can still be pretty close to what it should be, even if the coils are dirty. What you won't know is that the AC unit is working harder than it should. It can also take longer to cool the room,or building, than it should. Some of the units in our company were in an environment that was pretty dirty as well as having corrosive chemicals in the air. With those units they would get to the point where they could not keep the room cool enough. Amazingly, even with corrosion on the fins, cleaning them made a huge difference. Of course, there came a time when they had to be replaced. But here is the thing, if your coils looked dirty enough to cause concern, then cleaning them is the right thing to do. Your AC units will be happier and you will too.

I am a retired RV dealer. Was in business for decades and the last thing I would invest in is a RV. The industry evolved into making them as cheap as possible during my time (late 90’s to Covid time) and quality control is minimal and they push most of it into first year warranty claims. You buy the unit and plan for a list of warranty claims the first year. And with parts availability being low, plan for months in the shop. And, many parts are not supported beyond 5 to 10 years. Consider that before financing more than 10 years.

Two things: First if those batteries weren’t exposed to sub freezing weather while dead, they’ll likely charge up and be fine. But if they’re not big enough, obviously you should upgrade, but I wouldn’t let them go for a core charge. Second with it being a diesel, if it didn’t lose prime, it should start first time, no longer than it’s sat. It may be a longer than normal crank. Waiting to see if I’m right on the first attempt.

Hey Jimmy, if you're looking for a re-power of this or the Elvis Jet, maybe you could look into the Edison Motors R500 retrofit kit. It takes out the old diesel engine and puts in a new, smaller one (Caterpillar C9) with a generator on it, that charges up a battery bank that will then be used to power heavy duty electric drive axles converting your vehicle (RV or Elvis Jet in this case) into an electric vehicle with its own charging solution on board so you don't have to stop somewhere to plug in. You can also use the generator for stationary power if you're somewhere that doesn't have power on hand and you need it. They are also developing retrofit kits for pickup trucks as well. Just thought this would be a cool idea to share with you in case you get fed up with trying to chase down gremlins and want to finally be done. I'm sure you could even charge house battery bank with the generator as well so you essentially won't need a secondary generator at all and use whatever space that makes for storage or something like that. :) Just something you could look into if you're interested!

LiFePo4 batteries are ytour friend on RV/campervan use - lead-acids can only take 20% discharge without it affecting their capacity, LiFePo can go down to 80%++ (and the protection circuits will shut them down at 10.5V) and be left alone for _years_ between uses without issue (just don't charge them below freezing) You need to put a 100W solar panel on the roof to float them too. I feel your pain, I bought a new RV (Keystone Everest) in California in 2007. It was bad right out of the box. Over 10 major problems that the factory never addressed when it was built. It took a year to get those fixed...but it was always a different problem every time we used it. I finally sold it after 3 years. I'd never buy another. El Mirage, Arizona

Here in the UK, we are always amazed by the size of the fridges you guys have over there. In fact, our stores even sell American style fridges, it's a thing! I guess it's the same for your cars too..bigger is better😁

The problem with the slides is more likely to be in the limit switches and flex in the chassis.

Love your videos, Jimmy!! You always keep it real. You have a wonderful Family, and you keep us all laughing and entertained, even in the situations where i know I'd be about to lose it.😁 Also, thanks for showing the RV challenges. Every year, I always say, "Why do I continue to do this?" But the adventures make it all worth it, most of the time.😁

Starlink is simply the very best. I used Starlink for 2 years in our coach while our house was being built. I have been using the very same system for my home internet for the last year. My speeds are as fast as fiber and every bit as reliable. Make sure that you pick the correct monthly plan. Mobile or stationary.

Jimmy a couple of tips on storage. 1 make sure batteries are fully charged 2 disconnect all the cables 3 hook on a solar battery maintainer if no plug in available. Inside put saran wrap over the toilets after you put in some vinegar in the bowl. Presto no evaporation. I do this at our Florida home when leaving and our northern home in the fall. Works great.

great choice Jimmy, explore the wonders of wasps by attacking first, great plan of action without having the adequate protection or fighting equipment - i once needed to move a tractor in a field, it had a nest of Hornets in under the wing, so obviously they'd become pretty niffed on starting the tractor, fortunately i did have an aerosol of starter fluid which made a great flame thrower, first i blocked some holes, sprayed in some starter fluid and ignited, everything kind of went bang, the plugged holes exploded and i ran away rather rapidly, most of the hornets didn't survive but there was one that chased after me, there is nothing worse than coming face to face with an angry Hornet, its head appeared to enlarge before me, tilting from one side to the other, working out how to strike me, armed with the flame thrower, i soon ruined his day, down he went in flames ready for me to pounce and end his life HA if you are going to attack, find out first, how many there are, remove the AC cover gently, wear gloves (bitch mittens) and be ready to fight properly and effectively

"performance anxiety" good gawd.... I laughed my frickin' ass off! I share your love of all things spider-related.... when you lifted the rear-cover, it looked like a danged tow strap dangling in the air... God needs to smite those 8 legged monsters from the earth. I have been watching you for a long time, but you-boob-tube decided to remove me from the ranks of followers... (it's a damned conspiracy I tell ya) ANYWHO, this was truly one of the most entertaining videos I have seen in a while! Thank You, Jimmy for making me break out into uncontrolled laughter today! I grew up in the RV industry, and I feel 'yer pain. (when did Silas turn into a baritone???) With all that being said, I'll shut up, and wish you many hours of happy flight, no crosswinds, and full fresh fuel tanks. Go get 'em, Brother!

A 40° drop across the AC is excellent. As the ambient temp comes down of course the exit temp will too. Most RV units I have experience with are lucky to have a 20° drop.

A suggestion, since you live in my home state FLA. Get a set of "white tire covers" to keep your tires from dry rotting in the sunlight! Painted White plywood will work to cover tires! Invest in a white cover for the Motor home to keep it cool to the touch! Invest in a solar charger for batteries and a full disconnect switch if motorhome sets for long periods to keep from drying up batteries and corrosion problems also anti corrosion disks to put on battery posts under connections! Owning a motorhome needs to be fun when needed and safe when sitting! ...B.K.

Here in England the 12ft fiberglass double cab roof on my 32 year old truck was crazed and leaking in water when it rained , so i painted it with Thompsons 10 year roof seal . An airforce grey rubberised paint 3 year's ago now and not a single drop of water since . . No issue reccomending it to anyone with an older RV / trailer iff the roofs looking suspect . The relays in the control units seem pretty small - do they run to larger relays to run the motors ? . Iff not then fit 100a relays to send the power to the motors and iff it already has relays , pull them and check them to make sure there's not a short anywhere thats overloading the control box relays / circuit . And lube up anywhere thats moving to reduce friction to the minimum .

Very important to get some peel foam or filter material and put back in the ceiling vents. You can repair the plastic with Supa glue (apply a little heat from a hair dryer before the glue) when washing AC coils cover electrical with a plastic bag then remove. How about some white grease on the slide out rails on the RV. 🌏🇦🇺.

Jimmy, those cooking thermometers need to be calibrated. Typically the case or protector sleeve has a “wrench” for a small nut that you turn. Do this in an ice bath where the water is 32F. This is done where you fill a small vessel with ice then with water and let sit for 5 mins.

You cleaned the condensor coils - which helps exhaust the heat from the unit - however the other white cover was the a-coil or the evaporator coils which will make more of a difference in the heat-exchange of the unit. Talk to AZ expert in Arizona - he can give you some great advice on the slide-outs and the a/c units. Have used similar products in home units and yes, it is more effective if the evaporator coils are cleaned as well.
