Hello, thanks for your contribution. I have an anycubic mono 6K. What settings would you use?
@IPrint3dMinis
@IPrint3dMinis 8 ай бұрын
The same settings I would recommend for an 8k printer. Smooth Surfaces, 4px and 50% grey offset.

Just got myself a resin printer (DLP), have no idea what anti-aliasing would bring the best results, gotta do some research.

The DLP series D2 or Ultra will work well with Smooth Surfaces, 2px and 30-50% offset

What about settings for Saturn 3? Should we go with the same settings as for the 8k printers or should we increase the radius/grey offset? Also, do you know if anti-aliasing in Lychee even works today with new Elegoo's printers? I've read that anti-aliasing doesn't work in Lychee with .goo format, but that it does work with .ctb format and I can in fact confirm based on my own experience that anti-aliasing didn't work in previous versions of Lychee using .goo format but back then we couldn't slice in .ctb format so I couldn't try it with .ctb. Lychee has added .ctb format with the latest update, but I haven't tried it yet. And before I do try it, I figured I might as well ask you for recommendation for settings on a 12k printer. Cheers!

The Saturn 3 I would recommend sticking with the 50% offset, and as far as I have seen on the Saturn 2 and Jupiter it does in fact work. Remember resin matters too, so use the best resin possible.

@@IPrint3dMinis For my statues I use Resione TH72 resin. I would say it's a high end resin and that it retains details well. I prefer it because it's incredibly tough and flexible at the same time. You can bend thin parts 180° and they won't break. And I just got my hands on their brand new Water Fairy (water washable) resin which they advertise as high speed and high detail resin. But yeah, I really want to utilize Saturn 3 and it's 24 micron pixel size with anti-aliasing to remove the voxel lines at 50 micron layer height. Up until now, anti-aliasing was broken in Lychee :/

@@markoramljak9579 Resione is a good brand, and that is a good formulation. That should work with alias settings just fine.

@@IPrint3dMinis hmmmm I've just done a print with Resione TH72 using Lychee recommended settings of Smooth Surfaces with 4 pixel radius (since my printer has a 24 micron pixel size) and 50% grey offset. I sliced the files in .ctb file format and it doesn't seem it did anything :/ Voxel lines are still very visible. I'm now trying the same settings but with .goo file format.

Going to note this and make sure the Lychee Slicer folks at Mango are aware. This is the Saturn 3 correct? It might be the case of it being newer than the rest and therefore Mango has not added the info to make the AA settings function the way we are expecting@@markoramljak9579 Saturn 2, and the Mars series seem to work, even the Jupiter does, but again those have been around a little longer than the Saturn 3.

What's the meaning o "grey offset"?
@IPrint3dMinis
@IPrint3dMinis 2 ай бұрын
Grey offset is how much blurring essentially the software and hardware will try to accomplish using grey in between the pixels, it's like Anti aliasing in graphics, essentially the alias tries to fill the stepping created by the pixel lines.

0% gray should get a smoother result, with much older version of lychee it was different, but I've done lots of tests and so have others and 0% is definitely better now. grey offset is neccisary for 3DAA to make partial layers but these slicers don't do that, they just do normal XY AA where grey values bloom to shift over where resin cures, so even low values like 5% can have an effect.

I will have to make another video showing the 0% grey. My only issue is that when I use less grey I see more dots at the top of domes, and curves, not as consistent mind you, but it is there. Check part two of this as it pops out tonight and see what I mean. I am all for trying something new though, now I need to try more tests!

@@IPrint3dMinis "I see more dots at the top of domes" I've spoken to very knowledgable people about those dots such as Jan Mrázek and nobody knows why they happen, I can't really see how a low grey offset would cause it, it's probably just random chance that you got more dots with low grey offsets. I've tried loads of stuff with AA including making my own 3D AA Slicer, and rendering at 2x the printer size to down scale for a sharper image but that was in vein becuase lychee HD on uses sub sampling, not a lot of samples, but enough to get more detail, IMO 2px HD on 0% smooth surface is the best thing in lychee. Also for testing, try Dennys Wang's ultimate AA test, it's a slightly curved face, great for checking smoothness. Also use UV tools, with this you can import multiple files with different settings, use the test tool to lable each one, then you can print many different tests at the same time with different AA settings

@@awildtomappeared5925 Thanks for sharing that. I have read a lot about the dots, or bubbles or whatever we want to call them. I honestly did not see them very much earlier on, but maybe I was not looking.

I thought that the lower the grey offset the smoother the result? At least thats how it worked in chitubox

For me the results get better the more grey offset I apply, otherwise I get little dots, or what looks like an air bubble, they are not air bubbles, but they look like them.
