This lady knows what she is doing. I did this a few yrs back when hubby fell and within 2 mins I saw his foot and legs swell. It was progressing towards his thighs, but thru this exact massage I managed to stop it's progression. He had cellulitis. He had both legs full of water blisters. He doctor was having a fit calling an ambulance saying that he had to go to emergency. I had already gotten antibiotics thru a walk-in clinic. His legs looked really awful. We were just grateful that everything came out alright and that it didn't progress up his legs to his thighs.

Hmmm... instruction here is incomplete. Start with the thoracic lymphatics and get those nodes pulling fluid. Then go to the nodes in the groin and stimulate them to pull fluid. Then work the thigh pushing fluid upwards but in even strokes no more pressure than if your petting a cat. If your pushing harder like she is you are cutting off lymph in other areas of the leg which is not going to provide long term benefits. Once you have the thigh massaged, work the lymph nodes behind the knee to get them to start pulling fluid. Then go to the ankle and move that fluid up into the knee area; massage the knee lymph nodes again and then push up from knee through thigh into groin lymph nodes. If you don’t drain/ empty the upper lymphatics first, anything you just push up from the ankle will quickly drain back down as the upper lymphatics are already full. Stick with it daily. Keep your legs elevated when you can and don’t be afraid to exercise. It stimulates the lymph channels. Don’t get discouraged. Slow but steady wins the race. I’ve had lymphedema for 45 years and mine continues to be well managed.

Atiksh Anvay : best advice I can give you is don’t let it define you. Daily manual lymph drainage, lymph brushing, and ALWAYS wear compression wraps. When you are sitting for long periods try to elevate the legs if you can. I always had a box under my desk at work to put my leg up on. Don’t be afraid to exercise and do what you like... walking, hiking, tennis, golf...I kept up with it all. Standing for long periods of time on a regular basis is hard on lymphedema so try to avoid it or do it sparingly. If someone asks you about it...just talk about it openly to educate them. Most people are simply curious, not mean spirited though you will of course run into those. Find a physician who will work with you and don’t let the insurance companies bully you! Lymphedema shouldn’t change your life, but it may alter how you do life. You are beautifully and wonderfully made ... don’t forget that! I wish you well!!!

WinGood Aqua Clara : yes. I used a pump early on and tried various versions as the science on it improved. For me, it did not work well. While it helped push fluid up the leg, it seemed to me the fluid leaked/ drained back in faster than when I was conscientious with my manual lymph drainage and compression wraps. But there are others that have found it works well. This is such an individualized disease so try it first before you invest the $. Still very hard to get insurance to fully cover pumps and wraps. I’ve won some of those wars over time, and then my employer would change insurers and the battle would start all over. Don’t let this define you! You are beautifully and wonderfully made!!

@joyace9674 Try fasting. Eat within an 8 hr period and no sugar, juice, pasta, bread or rice. After 4 weeks you can introduce it back, but in moderation.

Are you applying little pressure as you squeeze and push upwards?
@JJones-rz2ir
@JJones-rz2ir Жыл бұрын
Best explanation I’ve ever heard is you use the same pressure as moving fluid around a closed ziplock bag- like trying to push the fluid into a corner- being scoop like enough to move the fluid, but not too hard to pop the bag open lol

Fluid should be pushed to the axilla (working lymph nodes in the armpit) if lymphoedema is in the leg not to the inguinals (lymph nodes in the groin), this is due to the lymph nodes possibly damaged due to surgery, radiotherpay or other trauma. I am Vodder trained but when you have a client whose whole leg is solid and you can't move the skin then I use the same technique as the lady in the video. Vodder technique would not work in this case.

You would think by moving the fluid up the body would be dangerous by it getting closer to the heart. But Idk I’m no doctor or expert my mom is going through this right now she has blisters everywhere on legs and feet and their weeping and really red.

But for a person that only has lymphedema in the legs and you use a lymphatic pump such as lympho press on your legs why would that not be as effective as manual lymphatic massage on your legs and it's also very difficult to manually massage your legs. Lympha press in their advertising says it's just as effective as lymphatic massage but that's their advertising.
