I respectfully disagree, the underrated guitarist on this stage was the late, great Hughie Thomasson. R.I.P. Hughie!

I'm not a big Skynyrd fan, but I really like this song. I think it's their best one. Great drums, and Gary's guitar sounds SOOOO good here.

I just saw Skynyrd at the Classic Beacon Theater in NYC and I scalped a 2nd row seat for $25 - a freakish thing - the guy who got the ticket gave it to someone for free then that person sold it for $25 to me - I caught a pick from Gary (he made sure I got one - awesome dude!) Skynyrd got me playing guitar 29 years ago

''Just let me say one thing'', Mr.&Mrs. Lacy Van Zant made 3 very talented sons, I believe Ronnie is still watching down from Heaven with a proud grin on his handsome face watching his dream staying well to form even after all the years. As I am writing this now in 2019 we have lost all original LS founders, except Gary Rossington (and I always count Artemas Pyle)but Gary's deep friendship he had with Ronnie, I think they are going to carry him from that stage, a true Survivor and friend. God Speed my Southern beauties. As Ronnie would say'' Here come my mule''. Ronnie and all the boys are waiting on Gary, the show must go on and on...

This period of Skynyrd with Gary Rossington Ricky Medlock Hughie Thomasson was the second best lineup fur the guitars I'll take Rossington Collins n Gaines, got drunk with Hughie in Vegas after show met him at a meet n greet there and he sat down next at the bar in hotel and had the best time ever

I’m building a guitar from wood from the Hell House original Dock, and foundation from Hell House, and incorporating metal from the plane. Once it’s complete we will loan it out to touring musicians so those timber’s will continue to sing and vibrate. LLLS. Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd.. if anybody knows Gary Rossington I’d love for him to sign it when complete, or donate a pick, or something I can incorporate into it. Tell him to hit me up. .

@cliftonsmith95472 жыл бұрын
Yep just the same as today people screaming gun control and there are more other things killing people than guns, most of this band was taken out by an airplane crash maybe they should have sung a song about not building anymore airplanes instead also.

its always seemed so weird to me that a group of southern boys that grew up shooting things and hunting, would do a song against guns... its like wtf?
@hazor7777 жыл бұрын
I don't believe anyone who was , or is, in LS was ever "against guns" , the song was written about the bar scene on west side Jax, Fl . , back in the early 70's ..... a .38 Special was a very common pistol , and cheap , but they did a shit ton of damage (still do) - because the barrel is so short, the blast from the gun shoots out about a 4ft. flame ...if you didn't die from the bullet, you'd die from burns it inflicted . No damn way Ronnie Van Zant was against guns .... he was against the senselessness of a lot of the violence that was going on in and around W Jax - and still is today ........
@turtleheadjones111 жыл бұрын
I liked this untill gun control came along ....Oh well....Still GREAT bar music !!!! Wake up people !! Keep the 2nd Amendment !!!
@adriantomlin13624 жыл бұрын
Nuthin wrong with 2nd amendment when it was wrote in the flippin 1770s!!! America has alot of delusional freaks anymore thinking its ok to settle a minor dispute by shooting them??!!
@Ryan20222 жыл бұрын
The supreme court heard you and correctly protected the second amendment. There no such thing as a Saturday night special and there are no gun stores in the ghetto. Still a great song, just misguided.
