Hey bud, there no one left in the band, they have all passed away.I do think Johnny did a great job.Artimus Pyle is basically the only living member or maybe Ricky Medlocke.

Every iteration of this band from the 70's until now have been awesome. With the passing of all the original members except for Artemus Pyle (drummer) the Lynyrd Skynrd legacy lives on. I attended their last concert 10/19/77... still have the ticket stub. One of my all time favorites. RIP y'all.

M y favorite Skynyrd song ever. Freebird is close but this one does it for me. What a message and beautifully done. It actually chokes me up every time I hear it. I grew up in the 80's but think the 70's was the best decade of pure American rock.

Welcome back Rebeka, I'm glad you're feeling better. As always I enjoyed your reaction. This was Johnny Vanzant singing and not Ronnie Vanzant. I'm not sure which Skynyrd song you reacted to prior to this one, but you may be comparing two different singers. There was a third brother that sang as well not in this band at least not full time, his name is Donnie. I love this song because it is simple and like you said relatable. By the way there's a new rule, you're not allowed to get sick anymore!

Glad you're feeling better. the original 1977 video where Ronnie Van Zant is the original lead on Lynyrd Skynyrd. After the plane crash, his brother Donnie kept the band going. Leonard Skinner was a basketball coach in their high school here in Jacksonville Florida. He had such an impact on them that they named their band after him, only changing the spelling. Lynyrd Skynyrd. Greatest Souther Rock band EVER

Glad you are feeling better. As far as the two videos go, keep in mind that was early on in their career and that stage was very small for a 7 piece band. Check out "FREEBIRD" or even "T for TEXAS" from either the Oakland Coliseum or the Knebworth concert.

Todays mainstream music seems to me about instant gratification but the good old fashion rock had substance. There are rock bands today still playing old time rock but they just aren't mainstream. Current artists I love are Larkin Poe, The Ally Venable Band, Dea Matrona, Rival Sons, The Answer, The Warning, Madison Galloway, Laura Cox, Blackberry Smoke and When Rivers Meet and others as well. All rock or blues rock bands but all current and old school talent wise. They all sing without auto tune and play their own instruments.

@@rollesvensson2943 In my opinion the people who say rock is dead aren’t looking in the right places. I kind of like Rock being under the radar of the mainstream. It keeps them out of Corporations wanting to exploit them. The bands I mentioned above automatically get my money already when they release music. Well, except Madison Galloway as I don’t own any of her music yet, but I’ve got CDs and/or vinyl of everything or almost everything the others have released (that’s still available).

@@rollesvensson2943 It looks like you’re in the UK. If you like Blues Rock check out When Rivers Meet if you don’t mind women lead vocalists. Also, Dea Matrona from Belfast are a classic rock duo of young ladies who along with their touring drummer(s) play some excellent melodic classic rock, both electric and acoustic with great harmonies. They both sing lead and switch between guitar and bass.

@@rollesvensson2943 So, you’re a musician too. Cool. BTW, it’s just Orlaith and Mollie in Dea Matrona now as little sister Mamie left to go to University. Also, Rosie McGinn is in between Mollie and Mamie and she is the singer in the Banshee Band. She’s got a very different voice that Mollie.

This looks like a more recent video from the Florida Theater 2015 that has maybe only 1 or 2 of the original members. The singer looks like the brother of Ronnie Van Zant who was killed in the 1977 plane crash.

Nice to see you're feeling better. The live version on 'One More From The Road' from 1976 by a young band with a lot more energy is better than this version imo, & it's actually Lynyrd Skynyrd. Too bad they didn't film that performance. Even though they go by Lynyrd Skynyrd, seems more like a tribute band here to me. Ronnie over Johnny is a no brainer, & I like the cool hi-hat ghost-type strokes that Artimus Pyle added to this song along with his feel that are absent here with Michael Cartellone & on the original studio version with Robert Burns. Overall, this performance lacks the youth & vitality of the 1976 performance, understandably so.

I'll recommend a few other bands: Bad Company - Ready For Love (Hard Rock Live 2008, Hollywood, Florida) Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Star One - Into The Black Hole (Live)[From Live on Earth dvd] Dream Theater - In the Name of God (Live At Budokan)

Yeah… I hear you and sometimes I do it and in the future I know that time from time I will do it again, but you have to understand me as well… For me live performances just say so much about the band and the song and of course to see the band doing their live performances are a lot more important, inspiring and entertaining…. For me to be honest honest on my channel is very important and for that reason I usually choose live performances. If you don’t like that, that’s fine, that’s your opinion, but I have my own too. Have a great day and hopefully you understood me a bit more.✨

I never said not to do a live version. If you read my post, it says why not do a live version WITH RONNIE the original singer and writer of the song. He died and there are live versions with him singing the song. You love Miley right? What if I reacted to her mom singing one of her songs and made it seem like that was best version of the song. You would be like what is this fool doing? Basically what happened here with you reacting to his brother singing Simple Man.

@@rebekaluizebudlevskamusic Yeah, the original band started out as My Backyard, but quickly changed to the Noble Five. They changed names quite a bit, such as the Wildcats, the Sons of Satan, Conqueror Worm, & the Pretty Ones. The longest lasting pre-Lynyrd Skynyrd name was also the last, the One Percent (from a Hell's Angels insignia), then Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1969.
