One of Skynyrd's greatest covers. Subtitled for my brazilian friends to enjoy.
Footage from live concert at Knebworth Fair in 1976.
I do not own the song or the clip. This is aimed for cultural acknowledge and art intended.

I love it, too. I never have had that luck etc of getting this many badasses added together in a jam and this tight so I can only imagine. But there’s times at an open mic of lameos where the right dude or chick comes up there with you and had your back on these types of bangers instead of “we don’t play that.” I bought tear up from joy halfway through the jam realizing “dang, this is us making this noise” and you’re geeking like you’re on drugs cause you can’t help but smile like Ronnie. I feel it.

Hard to argue with but I'd go w the Allmans..And which Skynyrd? This one? Pre Steve Gaines? Def not w Johnny though Ricky M is an interesting guy because he was there early for a bit and he does carry the energy still and has done so since the early 90s. But I'd take Filmore just slightly over this show at Knebworth as the greatest live show from an American rock band! 1, 2, easy..!

Just like people can have a stronger connection with a one year relationship than one where they were together for 10 years, Steve made his mark on this band in just a brief period and it was as if he had been an original member... He was welcomed into this band and loved very quickly.. looking back people still consider him just as large of a part of this band as anyone ever was even though his time was brief.. it's unfortunate he did not get time to enjoy his money and fame... Cassy kept bragging about how good her brother was and he was in town playing a bar w crawdaddy. She asked , “can my brother play with you he’s amazing” and after she asked about a dozen times times they agreed. He came out and tuned up you can hear it at the start. They had ran the song through for about a minute before and told him what key they were in. … This was the audition! They allowed him to come on and if he sucked liked you said would just turn his amp down and this is what he pulled off. Ronnie is geekin the whole time, they couldn’t believe how good he was.

DAMN! Skynyrd - the BEST FREAKIN' LIVE MUSIC BAND IN HISTORY!!!!! As stellar as their original compositions are (see Street Survivors)...this cover of Jimmie Rogers's classic song is EPIC!!! The Cameraman was off, though. He didn't focus on the prodigiously gifted Steve Gaines, who tore this song up out of the ground, beyond the stage, and into the stratosphere. (That isn't Collins or Rossington whom Ronnie was smiling radiantly at...). He also should have focused on Billy Powell during his solo. But still...this song never fails to send me into the cosmos with euphoric bliss. Goddamn that shit-trap of a plane they boarded 15 months later...on my nineteenth birthday, no less...oh, Ronnie...Steve...where have you gone...

If anyone is aware of a better rock instrumental performance, please lmk. Ronnie ain’t no slouch either ha. But this 3 guitar lineup, good grief. Gaines sounds like he’s shot out of a cannon. Gary makes a guitar sing like no other, always. And when Collins plays, you damn well always know who it is. The driving baseline of Leon and punchy drums of Artimus are symphonic and as powerful as it gets musically. Oh yeah, just to remind everyone that no band has a better rock pianist, Billy Powell solo, why not.

You just know that Ronnie is smiling at Cassie Gains when Steve is ripping. It just looks like he is thinking "Hell yes Cass, he is the real deal." Notice at 4:40 that Steve is doing the same kind of dirty lick that Gary Rossington does that also made Ronnie smile. I just think that the angle that he is looking is behind Steve Gains which would aim him right at the Honkett's and it makes perfect sense because Cassie networked Steve into the band and he brought a whole new life to the band.

Yes! Because this was his audition! He’s definitely smiling at nodding to Cassie. Gary rossington spoke about this as you probably already know. You can hear steve tune up at the start. They told him what key and did a quick practice before the show and they said Steve acted like he didn’t even care and he came out and played this song and left on their tourbus after the concert as member! Such a sick story. !

@@bigbb416-5 This WAS NOT his audition. He'd been in the band 3 months by the time they played Knebworth and it was the largest crowd (by far)Lynyrd Skynyrd ever played in front of.Do you really think Ronnie Van Zant, being the perfectionist he was, would audition an unknown guitar player live onstage in front of their biggest audience ever😅???

One of the finest versions of this classic Jimmy Rodgers songs. I have seen John Michael Montgomery do this song in the similar style . Both versions just rock the house. The old Blue Yodel was in the moth balls but it was the LSB that brought their arrangement to the stage making it an anthem again. Long live the first modern mechanical mode of transportation and Rodgers for the simple story line . The LSB rolling out and off of the 4 ' 8'' rail for their set here.
