MC Hammer has an interesting background. As a teenager, the owner of the Oakland A's saw him dancing in the parking lot after a game. He gave Hammer a job working in the clubhouse on game days, handing out towels and collecting dirty laundry and the like. The owner named him honorary Vice President for Clubhouse Maintenance or something like that. The players thought he looked like the home run hitting legend Hammering Hank Aaron, so they gave him the nickname Hammer.

I was about 10 when this came out! More early 90s! KLF 'Justified and Ancient', LA Style 'James Brown is Dead', Lucas 'Lucas with the Lid Off', PM Dawn 'Die Without You'. And of course, MC Hammer '2 Legit 2 Quit'!

Cliff, he just explained to me why my listening changed over the years! I was always alive to the beats and wanted to move! Now ...i am into the LYRICS, because i can't move to the BEATS. I want to, but my body says "nuhuh, don't you touch that!" So i hunker into the WORDS. Man. Lol. Learn something everyday. Thanks Cliff 😁

Oh yes....we did dance our flappy pants off when this came out....and if they were not flappy, they were those cycling short type ones. From one extreme to other but we surely had some fun on the dance floor!

MC Hammer was the first cassette I ever had. I got Vanilla Ice around the same time. The only time I could listen to them was in the car when my Dad wasn’t around bc he wasn’t having it. I was 8 yrs old. Eminem’s Slim Shady LP was the last cassette I remember having.

It was just one of the most fun songs to dance to. It was too much fun back in the late 80’s early 90s, and most of my friends were musicians because I worked in the clubs!💖🥰therefore, my kids love all music! They thought it was a normal thing to go to homes and watch jam sessions. 💖I’m glad you were able to enjoy this!

MC Hammer was my favorite in 2nd grade. Also, the first tape I ever bought at age 10 was Please Hammer, Don't Hurt Em

In the clubs this was iconic (where I live that means 19+)... everyone doing the shuffle. The parachute pants - we really thought we were something...lol. Remember, this was when Much Music was king so everyone knew the lyrics and the dance moves.

I heard this song 3 months before it hit. It was on the radio at like 2 am back when DJs played the songs I knew it would be huge at the time. He had a song on his first album called please Hammer don't hurt em. Loved that one too.

God, everyone wanted Hammer Pants when I was growing up! I wanted some, too but I never did get them. Probably a good thing, I could never move like these people! This whole video just embodies the early 90's, it's so great!
