作为在大陆长大的Chinese以及在自由美利坚生活过多年的Americanized Chinese,真想吐槽一下:自由美利坚的文化从来都不care你作为个体代表的是后面哪个群体;虽说你们台湾算是个民主实体,按理说比我们更容易与自由美利坚交流,可为啥从你们身上能感知到那么一点fresh off boat的味道,还是一股中国思维味儿。最后,用钱换来的良好印象弄不好只会觉得你们人傻钱多,顺带连累在美生活的与你我长相相似的亚裔。
FYI, actually all tips need to be taxed regardless of how the payment is made. The thing is that should the tip be paid thru credit card, there would be a certain amount of transaction fees (e.g. 5%, etc.) deducted from the tip payment by the issuing bank before it's passed to the server. On the top of that, the sever will still need to claim his/her net tip received on his/her tax form 1040 for tax assessment based on his/her income bracket.

Restaurant industry has been hit very hard by Covid-19. So either dine-in or take-out, 15% tips is the minimum I give, but I normally give between 20% to 30% tips.
