I love Damiano David (the lead singer) because he’s able to sing songs like Zitte E Buoni with such a rock kind of sound and then switch to some of his other songs like Torna a Casa or Coraline and sing with such a beautiful tone. He’s a really talented guy.

Yes. I almost wish he'd write a ballad in English (just to be able to understand the lyrics the first time I listen), but I know it would be much harder to be as eloquent in a second language, AND I know nothing would sound as beautiful in English as it does in Italian.

Maneskin, are an italian young band from Roma, they won Sanremo festival and Eurovision Song contest this year, whose name is a Danish word meaning moonlight, chosen because Victoria the bassist of the group is half Danish, became famous in Italy in 2017 when they came second in the final of X-Factor Italy, to me they are always liked from the first audition, they are excellent musicians and have made many songs both in English and Italian, totally different from each other, ranging from metal to Raggie to ballads always obtaining excellent results, if you love hard rock the best songs are "in nome del padre" or "morirò da Re" or "lividi sui gomiti" or "chosen" or "la paura del buio" or "fear for body", while if you like the songs that have a text definable as pure poetry , these songs are : "Coraline", "torna a casa", "vent'anni" " le parole lontane" so I suggest you see them with English subtitles, while if you want to truly appreciate Damiano's singing skills and Victoria, Thomas and Ethan's skill as musicians you should listen to the live versions of the following songs "back to black cover live", "begin" cover, "amandoti Cover live" or "New Song live", try to hear you will not regret it 😁👍

What I find even more interesting is the top 5 this year, like you go from rock to ballads to disco to electrofolk, this doesn't make any sense (and that's why we love Eurovision!) Btw it would be interesting to talk about Ukraine's performance this year (they finished 5th) because this is a special way of singing - "white voice" i think - and i'd like to hear it on a technical/professionnal level, like what is she doing with her throat to sound like that and i haven't seen a lot of people doing it!

You said it very well. Do not worry. Italian is not an easy language to speak if you don't know it. This song translated into English perhaps makes little sense, but they have also made some in English ... Unfortunately, although music is something universal, the lyrics of the songs change their meaning if you translate them. They only make sense in the language in which they are written, because the translation is often literal, but some words in Italian have more than one meaning.

I'm so glad you said this. I hadn't noticed that comment the first time I watched this because I was just so obsessed with Maneskin that's ALL I noticed - LOL! And 10 months later it seemed silly to post a comment about it, but I really hope that old idea about all Eurovision music being bad will finally go away. There has been some GREAT music at Eurovision, especially in recent years. Is there corny, campy stuff? Sure, and I hope that never goes away! LOL! Its part of Eurovision's charm as far as I'm concerned, but I wouldn't want it to be a huge part of the show, and it isn't. So I hope people will eventually stop characterizing it that way. I also hope it might catch on more here in the US, where our music industry is not very diverse at all.

Zoe, I really enjoyed the video, but I strongly disagree about Eurovision music. I wouldn't be a fan if I didn't love what I was hearing. This year was the best in a long time. I haven't checked yet, but I hope you listened to France and Switzerland's songs. Great vocal and beautiful music. I love Eurovision so much. If it wasn't for it, I would barely listen to any modern music at all.

Wow really? Very cool! This year was exceptionally good but you have to admit a lot of the time the music is pretty poor some years. I think the year the Pheonix song won it was outstripping the competition by miles the others were sooo bad!

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach Sorry, with the odd exception, I'm going to have to disagree with you. Every year, there is a lot of good music, and it's getting better every year, and making genuine hits or songs that you in the moment like Portugal 2017. A lot of people just assume it's going to be bad because that's what they've been told to think. My brother was a total sceptic, but I made him give it a chance, and this year was our 11th time watching it together. The Eurovision community are also the kindest and most diverse. I'm trans, pan and disabled no one even bats an eyelid. In fact, diversity is welcome. It's such a wonderful thing to be a part of. You should go to the show one year if you have the time and money. I promise being there live will change your mind. Regardless, Eurovision has saved my life. In my worst moments, losing my mum last year and nearly dying myself this year, it's always been there to lift me up. 😀

Here are the translated lyrics of Zitti E Buoni: Be quiet and behave They don't know what I'm talking about. Bruh, cloths dirty with mud. Yellow on your fingers from cigs, I'm walking about with a cig. I'm sorry, but I'm so sure I can afford to take the leap, Even if it's an uphill climb, That's why I'm training. And good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Let the actors on the scene. You better touch wood, You better be quiet and behave. People here are odd, like pushers. I spent too many nights outdoors, Now I'm going around kicking on these doors. Looking upwards, like a climber. So, I'm sorry mom if I'm always out, but I'm out of my mind, just not like them. And you're out of your mind, just not like them. We're out of our mind, just not like them. We're out of our mind, just not like them. No. I have written pages over pages, I've seen salt and then tears, These men on their cars Unable to climb against the rapids. Carved on a gravestone: "There's no god in my home", But if you understand the meaning of time You'll rise back up from your oblivion. And no wind can stop Natural power. From the right point of view You can feel the euphoria brought by the wind. With wings of wax on my back, I'll seek out that height. If you're trying to stop me, try again, Try and cut my head off Because... I'm out of my mind, just not like them. And you're out of your mind, just not like them. We're out of our mind, just not like them. We're out of our mind, just not like them. People talk, unfortunately They talk, and they don't know what they're talking about. Just take me where I can stay afloat, 'Cause here I can't breathe. People talk, unfortunately They talk, and they don't know what they're talking about. Just take me where I can stay afloat, 'Cause here I can't breathe. People talk, unfortunately They talk, and they don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Just take me where I can stay afloat, 'Cause here I can't breathe. But I'm out of my mind, just not like them. And you're out of your mind, just not like them. We're out of our mind, just not like them. We're out of our mind, just not like them. We're not like them. lyricstranslate.com

Edited post: So, Måneskin... - If this was from Swedish (which it isn't, it's Danish): Måne translates to "THE Moon" and Skin can sort of be losely translated to "shine". -- However "skin" does actually translate to "skin", yes, skin as in what surrounds your flesh. So in Swedish it would have been "Månsken" which means Moonlight. While Måneskin would become "The moons skin"!

I must assume you know what you’re talking about, but since Victoria (the bassist) is half Danish and speaks the language at native level, it still sounds weird that she didn’t use the right word.

@@smtuscany My statement was actually incorrect. In Danish the spelling is correct but in Swedish it becomes what I said above. - Sorry for the confusion! >_

@@Dandersenification No problem, it’s still better than those “false friends” between Italian and Spanish, i.e. lots of words that are written the same way (sort of), but with completely different meanings. For example, “burro” means butter in Italian and donkey in Spanish, or “salir” that means to get OUT in Spanish, while “salire” in Italian means to go UP. As an Italian and a Spaniard speak to each other, it’s almost inevitable to laugh about the gross misunderstandings that always come up. I won’t forget anymore that “imbarazzato” in Italian (embarrassed) is dangerously close to “embarazado” in Spanish (pregnant, but in the masculine form). That is how you really get embarrassed… or pregnant :)

@@smtuscany Wow, I had no idea! :) The thing with Danish, Norweigian and Swedish is that our languages are so close to one another; which is why I thought there must have been a misstranslation. In any case, good info! -- I'll do my best, in the future, to not get "embarazado". XD - Cheers! :)
