Uma eye clinic is a tertiary care, super speciality eye care centre. This clinic has been functioning since 1985. From small beginnings, it has grown to a centre of excellence in eye care delivery. Our forte has always been to deliver the highest quality of eye care both in terms of technique and technology. Historically we have been pioneers in several fields of ophthalmology. We are one of the first centres in the country to start phacoemulsification in the early 90s. A first user of the multifocal intraocular lens in India.
Our clinic pioneers in laser refractive procedures and first to have Custom laser correction platform. One of the earliest to acquire Intralase (femtosecond) blade-less LASIK. We are the pioneers in SMILE. First to start epithelium-on ACCELERATED C3R for keratoconus. We are amongst the earliest in India to start SELECTIVE LASER TRABECULOPLASTY. It has always been our endeavour to give the best to the patient at any point in time. It is not only the equipment but also the consultants who are highly qualified and skilled. Dr Arulmozhi Varman is the driving force behind Uma Eye Clinic, which is famed for the largest number of Multifocal IOL's successfully completed in India.
He is the pioneer in Phacoemulsification in India and has been invited to perform and teach Phacoemulsification in various countries across the world.
He is a man who is constantly revolutionizing the field of eye care in India. He is a man with many talents who also wants to give back to the society and thus founded the Vision Foundation and Eye Bank to further this cause.

Mrs Uma Varman, a professionally trained hospital administrator and is the soul behind Uma Eye Clinic, efficiently managing all departments and facilities.
A multi-talented person, she has also won several recognitions for Uma Eye Clinic including the ISO 9001: 2008 certification.
Vision Foundation the Community outreach wing of Uma Eye Clinic which conducts eye camps in slums and villages around Chennai is her brainchild. Under this banner, an average of 30 eye camps are conducted every month and over 100 surgeries are performed free for the unaffordable.
