M0NWK - How to straighten microbore copper tube / pipe

6 жыл бұрынThis video shows a simple workshop technique I've used to straighten 10mm Microbore copper tube and forms one of a series of video's I've made to show how I’ve constructed my Quadrifiliar Helix antenna or QFH as it’s more commonly known.
The QFH antenna will be used for receiving weather satellite images from space on 137MHz.

For straightening, I anchor the outer end of the tube under my toe, then unroll along the floor to the desired length plus a bit. Once that is cut off, I then lay a sheet of ply/chipboard/ wood on top of the tube, then gently roll the tube between the floor and the wood. This usually gives good result, just remember the copper is soft, so don't squash it!
