Hi . The cables should be twisted before looping through a ferrite core ?
@AdrianLeggettUK Жыл бұрын
Others have done this. I did twisted and non twisted version. There was no difference but it was much easier to wind untwisted. Cheers & 73 Ade

you didn't show how you get the pattern onto the blue sheet. Photo copier?
@M0NWK3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I used a laser printer to do this. Thanks
@DavidALovingMPF1023 жыл бұрын
@@M0NWK I figured it out. Lots of people explaining this whole process skip the printing pattern onto blue plastic video. I did that, got a 98% complete pattern. Repaired some missing parts. Etched it and the toner got etched off before all the copper. trash one ckt bd! I am still looking for those rub on ic, transistor pads and traces of different thicknesses. Not made any more. What about a cnc machine for cutting away the unwanted copper? Any suggestions? I've been making ckt bds for 35 years now. we have 3 laser printers. Wife wouldn't let me use her color laser printer!

Would this help reduce HF interference from a TIG welder going back to the house? Or do I need a different type of filter?

For straightening, I anchor the outer end of the tube under my toe, then unroll along the floor to the desired length plus a bit. Once that is cut off, I then lay a sheet of ply/chipboard/ wood on top of the tube, then gently roll the tube between the floor and the wood. This usually gives good result, just remember the copper is soft, so don't squash it!

Yes that’s a good technique too. Thanks for sharing :-)

i am picking up S9 of powerline noise but from the antenna not from the power supply as i have tried on a car battery and nothing changes, i have also tried shutting down power to my house and still no change, neighbours are far away and out entire hillside suffers from dirty power line noise. Anyone know if i can get usable results from a choke or a 1:1 balun? (Before i go and start experimenting). Thanks

@@M0NWK Thanks for the link to his site. I also found this which i find interesting after trying to find 5V/6V 3A relays (DPDT) for a decent price last night. A version of this might open up my options. "Switching 24V Relays from a 12V DC Supply"

Just added a schaffner line filter to this as well, spectacular recieve, even better for me than just the clamp choke, which is very good on its own,..nice work!

You could try a BT MCU/5A-125 Mains Conditioner Unit as well, they contain a 1:1 transformer and filter capacitors across the output line, are internally neutral/earth bonded to attenuate common mode noise, they also go for very little money £10-30(ish) on the bay for a 125W model, they also come in 250W,500 and 1000w versions. Hope this helps someone.

Hi, Looks good....One question.....Is your master switch connected directly to your consumer unit on its own circuit? Had a look on G3SEK's site and couldn't find out how this filter system is connected to the mains. Thanks...

Could this be applied right at the mains entrance wiring? I'm thinking of using it to filter smart meter noise out of my system.

@@M0NWK I had a problem when transmitting my modem crashed. So I was looking what people did with ferrites. It turned out my landline was the problem. I used a ferrite similar to the one you use and it did the trick. Luckily I don't have mains problems. Hope to meet you "in the air" 73 de 4Z5UY

or if like me you can't be bothered making a filter plug your PSU into an extension lead, The kind that comes coiled on a plastic reel (don't uncoil it) Job done, , Just don't draw anymore than 6 amps through it.
@CampervanCookout5 жыл бұрын
A decent extension should have a coiled and uncoiled rating
