Wow. This is so much easier to assemble and disassemble than the trigger group on the “baby brother” M1 Carbine!

Thanks for that video . Very easy to follow. The only problem I had was inserting the hammer trigger pin. I could get it partially started but didn't have the strength in these 75 year old hands to finish it off. I cheated and used a small bar clamp with plastic pressure points. Tightened it a little bit and the pin went right in. Thanks again :-)

You did a fantastic job with this video. When I heard "ejector" I was doubting you, thinking "doesn't the M1 have a plunger ejector" only to listen 30 more seconds for you to say "En Bloc clip ejector". I'm impressed. Most people would just leave it at "this spring here" but you taught me quite a bit. I subscribed. Keep up the good work.

It is if you put in a new spring or trigger. It took me about 5 times to wear in everything until it was as easy as just pressing the trigger pin with my finger. The spring was so strong that I could press the pin out just a little but then had to really fiddle with it to push it all the way out. Once I did it a few times it was very easy to do.

At 5:40, it's important to note that the safety must be in the forward (off) position or the hammer cannot be inserted.

Sir, thanks very much for posting this. I have a very hard to engage safety and wanted to take apart the trigger group. This helped me out. (after good cleaning and inspection still sticky, i think the safety is aftermarket)
@norwich93CMP7 жыл бұрын
The safety sticks because it actually pulls the hammer back and engages by holding it back.
@johyuujin30793 жыл бұрын
good video. I had 3 of these to swap parts around and it it far from easy with tight fitting parts and getting trigger in place - whoa that sucks. so on the last one I was going nowhere partly due to fingers too big and the spring must have been super strong or I was getting weaker. So I was looking at a wooden salad bowl with wooden spoon with a tapper handle nearby and I thought that I could be placed to fit between the trigger and trigger guard and now I only needed to press on one part of the trigger. like magic. not sure it that is an approved method, but it worked for me.

Interested more in any Garand knowledge you have. Really enjoyed your m1 carbine videos too. Still having trouble with it not ejecting the round all the way. The case gets stuck in the bolt, not a stove pipe, it gets stuck facing forward. Fully cleaned it and it is still happening. Maybe a broken extractor spring? Don't know. New to the Garand and excited to shoot the fire out of it.

Your welcome. I do have a question for you. Does it get easier manipulating the trigger pin into position? I was able to get my trigger assembly together but the trigger pin gave me a bit of a workout. I had to cut my video because I did not realize I had pulled the trigger out of view until I finally got it snapped into position. By that time I was back in view so I cut the video and made it one. That was the second time I assembled the assembly and the first time went together easily. I watched your video yesterday and you make it look easy. I notice you have an additional hole in your trigger that I don't. Does that make it a bit easier? Thanks, Jim
@norwich93CMP8 жыл бұрын
The extra hole is just an earlier variation and does not have any affect on the assembly/disassembly. Of all the M1 physical tasks I find the trigger pin the hardest to accomplish.
@norwich93CMP7 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't get easier to manipulate the trigger pin, you just get used to it. The extra hole does not help out at all, just a manufacturing difference. Thanks!

Well done. Not afraid to try it now !!! Can a stamped trigger guard be replaced by a milled one, or is it not that easy to swap ? Mine from CMP both have stamped and I like the look of the milled. Or am I best to leave as they are since they function flawlessly ?
@norwich93CMP3 жыл бұрын
Tom, yes it can be switched out very easily. I find milled trigger guards are easier to remove. Based upon the wear to the locking lugs it may lock up differently.
@maxwedge56832 жыл бұрын
Took my M1 to the range yesterday only to discover the trigger pin had somehow fallen out and disappeared. Obviously the rifle was unusable. I'm waiting for a replacement pin from Numrich. You video is excellent reference for trigger group work but it still begs the question "where did my trigger pin go?".

May I ask how the hammer spring housing cutout facing away from the safety causes issues? I just fixed it thanks to your video but have been trying to root out the problem to my bullet tip meets the 11 o'clock malfunction.
@norwich93CMP6 жыл бұрын
The thickness of the housing will bind against the safety. Also the area at the back of the housing engaging the sear will also be slightly off. (Good question)

Outstanding video, very thorough. Unfortunately it gave me a false sense of ability and I messed up during assembly. I pushed the trigger and it set, now it's locked up and I can't put the small pin in. Any ideas or suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
@norwich93CMP3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it should "set" as you say but you can move it around. Keeping your hand on it use your free hand to manipulate the trigger to move it's hole in better alignment to the trigger housing hole. Might have to have an awl and small hammer for help.

My M1 is incredibly hard to disassemble. The trigger guard latch is super tight. Like I have to use a metal bar and rest the butt on my leg to get enough leverage to unlatch it and have to use some body weight to latch it when reassembling it. Am I just weak or is there possibly some fit issue?
@norwich93CMP3 жыл бұрын
Some fit issues. Trigger guards have to bosses and if not new they can get flattened out. This causes the guard to go in easier. Also the height of the wood where the pads of the trigger guard sit at the bottom of the stock to the left and right may be slightly higher, causing a higher angle of engagement of the trigger guard. If you do not have a collector stock you can take a little off the angle of engagement will decrease.
@toyman815 жыл бұрын
Can you show all the lubrication areas and what type of lubrication and how much, Thanks
@norwich93CMP5 жыл бұрын
Generally I do not show that. I am a combat vet form Iraq, we ran guns dry, the more oil/lube, the more dirt and dust stuck to it. But I would only recommend USGI CLP or Breakfree. Why, because it does not gum up over time like commercial gun oils which turn yellow and get sticky. CLP needs to be shaken up because there is an additive. It also works well in cool climates. Put light coat of CLP on the hammer pin, hammer plunger where it meets the hammer, the trigger pin, around the tip of the safety where it engages the hammer. That should do it. Remember, if you wipe off and its dark or black that means if you keep using it those parts will wear quicker because there now is aggregate mixed with the lube just like toothpaste with pumice.

Question. I'm building a 5 digit sn SA. I've read that in order to keep it correct I need the old 2 spring system rather than the standard operating rod spring. Are there any manufacturers that still make the old springs?
@norwich93CMP5 жыл бұрын
You are referring to the the spring which goes in the oprod. You have to have a special follower rod to get the two spring system, it was called a compensating spring. Don't use if you do not have the earlier follower rod, which is very expensive. I would just stick with the later types for functionality.
@richmeister225 жыл бұрын
@@norwich93CMP I have a 1-SA op rod, Can i use it with the usual op rod spring or do I need the Keystone system?
@norwich93CMP5 жыл бұрын
Depends on your follower rod. If you have the later type just use the later single operating spring and you should be fine. I recommend using the later parts.

I hear that some troops modified the safety so that it was easier to engage and disengage. Do know about this and how was it done?
