The parts kits are somewhat affordable. All you need to complete them is the receiver (regular semi-auto AR-15 receiver works) and in most cases the barrel.

In the field we didn't worry about the trigger or bore too much. Those were easy to clean. We paid special attention to keeping the chamber and bolt head very clean. Because of close tolerances, filth, petroleum oil and high chamber temperatures, the chamber/bolt might jamb. In 1968-1969 we could usually get a new white colored lubricant, a silicon oil, that lubed and cleaned the breach and did not cake up like petroleum oil might. If you kept your breach and magazines very clean, you were probably not going to jamb. My M16 never let me down. My only regret was that I wish it had a little more range. IMHO the M16 is/was superior to the AK47. I am here today because this rifle saved my silly ass.

There was a time when I could literally take the m16a1 apart and put it back together bllind folded! I knew that weapon inside and out. I also remember the pain of turning it back into the armory. I mean, one tiny speck of residue and the armorer would reject it, and you'd have to go back and start cleaning all over again.

Not a “Genuine Vietnam War Rifle” this rifle was manufactured well after the war in the late 70’s or 80’s it’s a 9,000,000+ serial number rifle. The majority of the Colts that went to Vietnam had “COLT AR-15 Property of U.S. Govt.” etc.. stamped on the receiver. Some didn’t have AR-15 next to the “Hartford Horsie” but they were later in the war. Nice rifle though

Jack Sparrow the markings I'd guess. The fact that the reciever even says "Colt M16 A1" is incredible. I want an accurate retro rifle and even if it's not in full auto, I'd just like the aesthetics of having it say that. but yeah that tells me it's genuine.
@damien1999
@damien1999 6 жыл бұрын
Jack Sparrow the 3rd pin on the lower receiver and the auto sear (which is visible when he opens it up) now as far as being a “Genuine Vietnam War Rifle” I am having my doubts about that, the roll markings on the receiver suggest a 1980’s date of manufacture
@damien1999
@damien1999 6 жыл бұрын
598bryce you can have those markings engraved on any rifle. Also Colt released a semi auto version of the m16a1 that has ALL of the markings on the receiver right down to the “auto” and “property of US Government” markings as the original Vietnam era m16a1’s the only thing it’s missing is the full auto capabilities

If's that's not a real Colt M16A1, then somebody needs an award for making the best fake ever. What a gem! Hard to believe a M16 that old is in such great shape, looks like it has never been fired. Needless to say, that M16 is worth some major bucks.....if it is the real deal.
@MrRiccardo1965

yes they are genuine ,they where export colt made for England army during 80' , most of them are in mint condition , never used , England sold to some iporters around europe , included italy where I leave , the one of the video still in original condition , seam the owner have the special license for full auto firearms , in italy and other country they have been converted in semiauto , but still a beatiful rifle to own.

doge 510 only really the first batches that didn’t have chrome lined chambers and barrels. The humid environment didn’t go well with unlined bores and they also shipped the wrong propellant powder in the ammunition, ball powder vs stick powder. They also were shipped without cleaning kits and touted wrongly as “self cleaning” because of the new unfamiliar direct impingement gas operating system. After they sorted those initial issues out they ran pretty darn well. Now for the 5.56 / .223’s effectiveness in a jungle theater , now that’s a different discussion.
