I have seen people still asking ? about PCV set up so I’m going to make one more post about it so can understand how external PCV routing using Dual catch cans works and how you must have it setup to work properly, below the diagram showing as well PCV is actually two separate systems with unique faults and deficiencies. There is a low-pressure system low side, that works under vacuum or low pressure conditions idling, light acceleration, off the throttle, And there is a high pressure system, high side, that works when under boost or load. if you do not have high side check valve on the high side it will suck in hire and pull it through the crankcase so when whenever you’re on idle, the check valve on the low side will open and the crank valve on the high side will close so that way it does not suck in hire when the crankcase is under vacuum so if you do not have check valve on the high side it will suck in hire and pull it through the crankcase and then you will have a massive vacuum leak . If you just have low side catch can only with no check valve and you vented to atmosphere only you will have excessive crankcase pressure and then you will end up haveing smoke out the exhaust . so if just have check valve on the low side you will be fine when idle and Port throttle but you will have smoke under Boost You have to have all both sides just as how factor valve cover has both it’s very important that you do that So for the plugging of the head ports reliability and cleaner valves .but after that you going need vacuum release valve .This is way you who’d need to install a Vacuum relief valve allows you to dial in your crankcase vacuum to the precise level like 10 14 so you can seal your system with no fear of pulling too much vacuum through the system. If you do not regulate the vacuum, on your system, You can pull too much vacuum and damage seals .. as can see in the diagram there is vacuum relief valve

Appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I too was wondering what the optimal PCV setup was with dual catch cans and an aftermarket valve cover. Couldn't find a clear answer and felt like I was driving myself insane.

Thanks for posting this. The PCV setup can be confusing. I also like seeing how others are placing components in the engine bay and getting ideas (e.g., where you placed the vacuum relief valve).

Bless King, Appreciate you for taking your time and explaining this so thoroughly. @0:50 It looks like you have some type of tape over the inlet connection in the bacc where the crankcase blow by hose connects to what I think is called the heating element (it has a connecting wire that comes from underneath the manifold). Do you get any codes or need to worry about the heating element being connected? I appreciate you 🙏🏽 Thank you for your time and energy.

Where did you get your check valves? I have the same setup but stock vc I need my high side check valve and I’m running vtt low side check valve but I still need the relief valve too because I blocked my head ports.

Looks great I have a 2007 335 xi N54 I would love to something like your set up . But it hard to come up with the money so what did you spend on your car about ? Life is hard right now lost my good paying job a few months ago and I just need a break because it is hard finding a new job that pays me what I made . I just wish someone would come to me a say it's your lucky day and take my car and do everything I ever wanted to it and here is a great dream job to go with it . I guess I can dream right . Because I was addicted to drugs for over ten years and been clean for over 12 years now. Things were good for a long time till I lost my job now It like starting all over again and every time it's getting harder and more disgusting . That’s no problem to tell me your story man I do not understand everything that’s going on with you and I would not put myself in your position saying that I understand what’s going on with you, but as far as what you have said to me, I can’t tell you this God is always there he will help you with whatever challenges and troubles you’re facing just talk with him and ask him for help and guidance life is hard for most of us. Will you fix different challenges in our life and yours is no exception different situation, different challenges, but never give up you have life you have else you are straight. Just focus on yourself getting better these are things that happen to us again to Bill, character, and strings, so do not give up just fight fight with your last breath you will achieve it.

VTT Billet Vacuum relief valve allows you to dial in your crankcase vacuum to the precise level you choose. No more wondering if you have too much or too little vacuum in your crankcase. With this valve simply add or remove shims to get the desired vacuum level. Simply screw into an open port, and you can seal your system with no fear of pulling too much vacuum through the system. Adjusting Vacuum: There are 5 vacuum settings using the supplied shims. 4 shims used the valve will open at 18″ of vacuum 3 shims used the valve will open at 16″ of vacuum 2 shims used the valve will open at 14″ of vacuum 1 shim used the valve will open at 12″ of vacuum 0 shims used the valve will open at 10″ of vacuum Note: For the BMW N54 we suggest anywhere from 10-14″ of vacuum going higher can cause whist

You need check valve on high side also!!! If you don’t you create a massive vacuum leak. You need check valve arrow pointing away from valve cover on high side. And all so need vacuum regulator relief valve This can go in front of the engine

The low side system works on low pressure or vacuum (any time you're not using boost) - idling, light acceleration, getting off the throttle, etc. The factory system is self-contained in the valve cover and cylinder head. Cyclone chambers in the valve cover swirl the oil vapor. Heavier oil droplets are separated from vapor and drain back to the oil pan via the cylinder head. The lighter vapor is routed to the intake valves through a check valve in the valve cover. liquid oil and vapor from the valve cover altogether. Instead of an internal PCV system it becomes an external one. A new hose runs from a connector on the valve cover to an oil catch can. Liquid oil falls to the bottom of the can while vapors are directed to the intake manifold near the throttle body.1 x catch can 2 x 90° low profile -10AN fitting 1 x low side -8AN fitting 1 x vacuum fitting for throttle body 1 x inline check valve 1 x hose from valve cover to OCC 1 x hose from OCC to throttle body fitting Important Notes: 1. By removing the low side check valve, the low side vent now works all of the time - under vacuum and boost. Your high side boost PCV can remain un-changed (see #2 below) and less oil will find its way into the turbo intake duct at the back of the engine. The high side hose still needs to be maintained as any cracks here will cause a vacuum and oil leak. 2. If you're running high boost (24+psi) or you're building the turbo system to be as leak-free as possible, you may opt to modify the high side with a second OCC. 3. The ports in the cylinder head used to vent vapor should be blocked if you're planning to run more than 24psi of boost. This closes the ports so your new boost does not leak out of the valve cover

I have my low side ports tapped and plugged with a VVT valve cover.. Do I still need to have a vacuum regulation? I was told with my setup that’s it’s external..

So i thought i had piston ring issues.. but maybe i have a pcv issue.. So without all this, did you have alot of smoke coming from your highside hose? Also, did you have ruff idling and misfiring?

Did you ever fix this? Also smoking from high side. Flapper valve goes to OCC which then smoke out of the other OCC port that vents to atmosphere. Also burning a lot of oil

@@BoostSZN so the issue was unfortunately 2 broken piston rings due to a aggressive tune.. so I was burning oil and filling up catch cans.. new pistons is the fix and a proper tune from a proper tuner is an investment worth while.. avoid insta tuners

It all depends more and how much time I put the car in boost I’ll catch up more on the lower side every two weeks
