German fighter Stefan Pütz, nicknamed T-800, became a real discovery in the M-1 Challenge. Huge, athletic, technical and incredibly charismatic. He had all the qualities for a real champion, which he immediately became, winning in a dramatic battle against Viktor Nemkov. After which he won a number of victories, including defeating the current heavyweight champion of the organization, Marcin Tybura. Then there was a rematch with Viktor Nemkov and Fedor’s student managed to regain his belt by a split decision of the judges.
And so on May 27, 2016, at the M-1 Challenge 66 tournament in Orenburg, Stefan began his new campaign for the champion belt. And I must admit that at that time there weren’t really any people who wanted to fight him. Rashid Yusupov and Viktor Nemkov fought each other at the same tournament, but all the other fighters, for various reasons, considered it necessary to avoid meeting the Terminator.
Except one. A fighter from Ukhta, Andrey Seledtsov, representing the MMA-North teams from the Komi Republic and Sech Pro, volunteered to fight with Pütz. Having recently been a fighter in the Berkut special forces reconnaissance company, after demobilization Andrei focused on various types of martial arts and became the champion of the Komi Republic in boxing, combat sambo and mixed martial arts. In the professional arena, he had 6 fights, in 5 of which he celebrated success and won the title of champion of the White Rex organization. For Seledtsov, the fight against the ex-M-1 Challenge champion was at that time the biggest challenge in his professional career. But the fighter himself and his team accepted this fight with great enthusiasm and intended to take full advantage of the given chance to make a name for themselves on the world stage of mixed martial arts.
