M1 to M2 (all variants) are evolutionary, but Intel from M1 is revolutionary Yes M2 chips are faster, but remind that they’re significantly more expensive than current M1 variants in market. If you don’t care about upgrades that M2 offer, go get yourself an M1 Pro and save like 200-500 bucks (even more with used or refurbished M1)

I feel that many people, especially those that are first time buyers, would be more interested in 14” M2 Pro 10/16 to M2 Max 12/30 comparison, both with 32GB and 1TB, in order to figure out can we get away with model that is just bit over entry level or we really need to splurge another $500 to get M2 Max. If you could do such comparison it would be very much appreciated, especially if it focuses on all aspects of video editing and not just simple rendering. Import/export of photos in Lightroom or simple video rendering doesn’t stress the machine nowhere near what applying of noise reduction, complex transitions, and effects does.

1tb storage is criminally low these days especially for the price. Storage is super cheap, theres no reason to charge exponentially for it.

It is Apple's business model, so they can have lower base prices. So, prosumers, who make money from their machines, have no issue paying the extra because it is their livelihood. It is an investment. With external drives, consumers can easily manage 512GB.

I think for a lot of creators the most interesting comparison would be between the m1 max and m2 pro (both 16"), as they are similar in price and performance. Thank you! 😊

It’s baffling that apple’s cheapening out on the ssds but still sells them at a premium within these devices. I understand the cost of such components have gone up, but at the very least drop the upgraded storage prices.

Soooo spend $2600 on a maxed out M1 Max vs $3500 for a M2 Max for less than a 1 minute difference of rendering speeds? Nah. The efficiency difference overall is not worth $900..

Dear Daniel, when articulating numbers with decimal places, we do not read out the numbers after the decimal point. We read the digits individually. 1.63 is not, ‘one point sixty three’. It should reads ‘one point six three’. Hope this helps.

@@SuperhumanCyberRy I didn’t put my order in until the 24th and it was originally slated to ship Feb 1st and arrive probably a day or two later. Though it’s worth noting that I didn’t order it directly from Apple, I ordered from a military exchange who then sent the order over to Apple… so I suppose it’s possible that those orders receive higher priority somehow.

Here because my 2012 Macbook Pro is up for upgrade and I came across a store that sells a Macbook Pro 16" with M1 Max / 32GB Unified Memory / 1TB SSD / 10-Core CPU / 32-Core GPU for USD2175. Checking if that is still a good deal considering its already 2023 or should I go for a similar spec except with the M2 Max chip. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

Upgrading from M1 Air, I insist the need of 32GB RAM for development. Made more affordable choice M1 MacBook Pro 14”. Apple only sells that in refurbished status, so total at 1839 was nice.

Incremental improvements & it should be, but in everyday use you won’t notice any difference, no need to get so excited lol!! it’s worth buying if you don’t own the M1 Mac book

Not sure if you can test ram leaks from FCPX when rendering or exporting files on the M1 Max with 64 Gb of memory. Mine is constantly running out of ram. I only use FCPX. Im contemplating on contacting Apple about this bloated memory issue.

Try DaVinci; no memory leaks there. Also, Safari has RAM leaks, so I now use Firefox. I tried Chrome, but that is a resource hog.

Let’s just put it like this, if you need to upgrade just get the M1pro or max it’s more than powerful for just about anything you’ll need to do tbh, the M2 while roughly 20% more powerful in most aspects the pricing is still crazy

Hello guys. I really need your help about taking decision. I will buy MacBook first time in my life and I am 40 :) The m2 max price is 87500 unit in my country. I found 42% cheaper m1 max (one year old and very clean) which is 50000 unit. Which one should I buy. There is huge price difference between m1 max and m2 max. I watched the whole video. There are some differences sure between m1 and m2. But the thing is these slightly differences are not so much important form. What is important? I will buy this machine and use It for several years with solid rock :) Are there any big differences on the screen? Or case, or keyboard? Any cosmetic things that I should know about? So what are you thoughts on an M2 Max with 32g & 2TB vs M1 Max with 64g & 4TB drive the M2 is $100 more for less RAM, a smaller drive but a faster 30-core vs a 32 core GPU? Mostly for working on 4k video and processing large photo files. It seems the M1s are on clearance and the M2 is marked down $400.

I just snagged that configuration of the M1 Max for $3200. I was considering the 1tb M2 Max at that price range, but the 4tb and 64gb are really more indispensable for me.

@@MikeOrazzi So far it has been pretty great! The ample storage is giving me lots of freedom on both ends (ram & ssd). I haven't had a chance to fully edit videos on it yet, but photo work on the screen looks awesome. Also the speakers are a highlight for me and the battery has been lasting 2 days on a single charge of mixed use.

@@exonorated5092 I did wind up getting one too. Not as fast as I expected it to be, the battery still goes down, not as quickly as my Intel MacBook's battery does, so I don't know. I think it's good I didn't pay full price for it. I haven't done any video on it yet either, just a short photo shoot edit.

I'm just thinking about purchasing a new MacBook. I currently have a 13 pro on a 2020 M1. I can't choose between 16 inch M1 max and M2 max. The price difference is $1000. Is this performance difference worth the price? I'm generally happy with my current MacBook 13 M1, however I feel like I need a little more performance to perform better in video editing. M1 Max played a 5 minute youtube video in exactly 5 minute and 3 seconds (buffering), vs a massive 1.99x improvement on M2 Max of 5 minutes and 2 seconds.

Last year I was planing on getting one of these M1 Max MacBook Pros and now this year the new generation comes out. Considering the difference in performance from one generation to another, is it really worth to buy the latest and greatest, or will it be a better purchase decision to get the previous generation as it is just as powerful as the current one? My use case is pretty specific. I’m a music producer and engineer, the GPU performance is not something that I desperately need but I’m dipping my toes on some video editing. So, even though it’s not something crucial to me it’d be a nice to have. What would you do?

Get the previous gen, the M1 Max is supreme. Even if you come from let's say an intel machine, the money is not worth getting the M2 Max, if you can get the M1 Max instead.

Another KZfaqr doing all these tests without external monitor connected even though Apple has knowingly had throttling issues with external displays. Guys please, stop just running bench marks and displaying numbers. Think these through. The max vs pro series supports more external displays. Run these tests with external displays connected. NOT ONE REVIEWER has done this. 😡

todos los putos años nos van a tener asi? que lindas epocas cuando comprabas una g5 y te duraba 10 años, incluso la generacion de imac 2011-2012 duraron 10 años. Ahora todos los años una actualizacion. Luego vendra el m3, y el m4 y asi sucesivamente
