Jesus man there's like 6,000$ worth of classic knives here! I love WW2 history and these knives. I've got two of them but this is awesome!

Nice Collection. I was concerned about the forward sweep of the blade on my ontario m3 reproduction I just picked up, but I see now that it is identical to many of these historic designs. Awesome!

I found an M3 knife at an antique show over the weekend, 1943 blade dated Camillus with a Moose Co. M6 scabbard for $650. The price is a little high I think and both of them look new so when I first saw them I said to myself "they must be fake". Something told me to get a closer look and see what they smell like. They pass the smell test with flying colors and are almost in perfect, unused condition. The blade has some light scratches from the scabbard but retains the original edge and most of the original finish so I got it. My first M3 knife and it will be hard to find a better one.

A little high..??? They must’ve been trashed because anything somewhat decent usually starts bringing $1500 minimum..

Also found a fake Moose Co. sheath for $30(from a different seller), someone spent a lot of time trying to age it and make it look really old but the markings and the metal rivets are slightly different from my original and it still smells like new leather.

Thanks seminar6 , you are right. if you store them in their scabbards they rust after time, I only put them into the scabbards for the video. when they get put away they are always stored seperately.

@bargunner18 No the scabbards from each M6 scabbard manufacturer were sent to each of the M3 trench knife manufacturers randomly. Any knife could have been paired with any manufacturers scabbard.

A fine collection of M3 knives and M6 scabbards; thanks for posting (6 years ago!). Have you written/published the book on M6 scabbards? Am still using my trusty book by Vincent J. Coniglio and Robert S . Laden on the M3 here in the UK. Anything new would be welcome; those M6 scabbards are mighty fine.

I have it 99% complete. I just never finished the final chapter. I plan on getting back to it soon when I have a slow down at work. I don't plan on selling it, I think I will just offer pdf copies to anyone interested when it's done. it's only on the M6 scabbard. others have already covered the M3 Trench knife.

That's great, well done on achieving the 99% - few books make it pass 1%! Well when you do get around to the finishing it I would be very interested in a copy. Best of luck with it and thank you for the quick reply.

I bought a “battlefield pickup” at a gun show about 10yrs ago. There is only 6 leather washers left and i’m guessing it was under water for some time. There is a good bit of rust on the blade but there are no markings on the knife none! Any ideas?
@thenarsian
@thenarsian Жыл бұрын
Zeme05 It's probably a guard marked version. Look on the underside of the guard for markings. If they're not there, than I don't know. I would need to see the blade and remaining parts to have a better idea.

I've started collecting Ka bar knifes. Not old ones like yours because they'd be had to source in England and the Price would be massive. I love your collection of M3s though.

I bought a reproduction Ontario Knife M3. It broke at the guard/hilt. Snapped off like a broken pretzl. Not sure if the WWII M3 Knives were made of the same steel, but I was sorely unimpressed. Even the current issue M9 bayonet snaps in the same spot. I've seen many broken M9 bayonets. I don't know why they are made so cheaply.

@ss96impala1 Thanks. All L&C M6 scabbards have 4 holes at the top/bottom of the belt loop. if they are missing, it is not original. I am in the middle of writing a book on the M6 scabbard that covers every variation in detail. I have a chapter and a half to go. it should have been completed already but i keep going back to the begining to rewrite it.

Depends on which version and the condition. But its your family history, so it should be priceless to you. Go to ebay and get a period correct scabbard and enjoy it.

I couldn't tell you what the Utica is worth without looking it over but the BMCO scabbard is a reproduction. BMCO is not one of the original manufacturers of the M6. As far as Utica Goes, there are blade dated, blade marked (pinned and peened versions) and a guard marked version. besides the different types there is always condition to take into consideration.

ebay is your best bet for getting an M3 at a good price, but you won't have any luck with the youth knife there. the markings violate ebay rules. you can find plenty of hitler youth knives on other auction sites (your best bet for a good deal). there are plenty of web sites that specialize in ww2 german collectables, but on most of them you will be paying top of the market. just make sure you do some research before you go out and spend any money.

So, your the guy that buys them all up off of eBay? And now thirty dollar knives go up to 300 or more? 😂 I can't believe the price they are nowadays! Just ten years ago you can buy them all day for 30 or 45 dollar's all day long! They were less than an original mark 2! Now mark 3's are going for more! I owned several original war used even, mark 2's and mark3's and sold mine for 25 bucks around ten years and longer ago. I went back on ebay to rebuy the ones I had. And my jaw dropped! $250.00 to 500 dollar's to buy originals now! Recent collectors have made a market for old knives that are still a ton of them out there outrageous! They are not rare. Great collection!

Try buying blade dated M3 trench knives in M6 scabbards and if you can find any for $500 or less buy them immediately, because the prices have gone through the roof. I've been offered close to $2,000 for my Robeson Cutlery blade dated M3 and turned down the offer.
