Gemma just didn’t have the temperament for taking care of a child. While it seems that she was opportunistic, she, in her own messed up way, believed she was doing good. She didn’t want Cady to be sad. Instead of being well adjusted for the role of parenting, her mind was seeing her sister’s death as a problem to solve. I liked that it was a part of her arc and not just a tacked on trait. Gemma loves her niece, but she herself hasn’t begun to process because you threw herself into her work to avoid the talk with Cady. M3GAN was an extension of a flawed person who programmed her. I was surprised that this campy delight had more to say that surface level stuff. It opens a discussion on how many parents today leave their tablet/phone/television to babysit their children.

There’s only one scene I wish you included and its the scene when the boys moms talking to Gemma and says “he’s kind of a sensitive kid”, and the kid saying “fuck off holly” 😭 I lost it

M3gan isn't CGI she is a real person in a mask who at the time was 11 years old. She is an award winning dancer and athlete and she is the one that came up with the crawling on all fours when chasing Brandon in the woods and the dance scene before she kills the boss was made up by her and she got help from her dance teacher to make it look good. She learned to act like a robot as best she could with her little catlike movements and all that. The sequal comes out on January 2025 and it's called M3gan 2.0 can't wait to see what they do with it because I love this movie so much.

The reason they are confused is due to her evolution. She is evolving in ways they didn't anticipate. They basically gave her the direction to protect Cady emotionally and physically, which included her mental health. Megan figured that helping her retain her memories of her mother and father would help, so being her personal diary was something she came up on her own without her creators input or suggestion.

Honestly I don’t even think Megan did anything wrong, a rule or “command” that Megan was given was the protect Cady both physical and emotional. If an A.I. is looking up on how to protect someone, one thing that could have popped up was to go with violence. But also I wonder if the dog did anything, since in the scene where he bites her it’s obvious he pulled at a wire or something that could have caused something in her chip or whatever to snap. I don’t know I just enjoy a boss/icon woman.

When I walked out of the theater, I told my dad that I appreciated the movie being an hour and a half. So many movies nowadays are like 2 and half hours and it is nice to see a shorter movie that tells the story it wants to tell

Omg yes I didn’t even know you would react to this. If you go into the mindset (like I did) of this being movie being a fun time and not a horror movie that’s taking itself seriously then it’s a blast. It’s so funny intentionally and unintentionally. I was shocked that it had a 94% RT score cause I was expecting it to be low and it’s currently about to make $170 million on a $12 million budget like that’s amazing can’t wait for the sequel. I still would’ve wanted this movie to have kept the R rating instead of turning it into PG-13 which took away all the gore.
