M5 V10 engine rebuild! S85 ❤️

3 жыл бұрынOur customer just bought the car and he was smart enough to replace the rod bearings right away. Unfortunately it was already too late. We advised not to replace the bearings because the one that did the damage to the crank wouldn’t hold up and will soon fail again.
So that meant replacing the engine or a rebeuild the engine with a new crank. We spend almost 1,5 weeks from start to finish. We rebuild the engine according to BMW specs and replaced all injectors as a precaution.

I have a question about the DCT transmission from s65 engine. Can you connect it to the s85 if yes does anything needs to be replaced? because i saw they seem pretty similar accept the input shaft. Anyways congrats on your project I love it

Yes it connects to the s85 with a minor modification. Nothing big and BMW has build a M5 CSL DCT version that never went into production. So yes it fits.

Curious, what oil are you using in the S85....10w60 or 5w50 etc. I am guessing stock rod bearing tolerances. Thanks

We use 10w60 castrol as temperatures here in the Netherlands don’t drop below zero so much. And mostly these cars are driven in warmer weather conditions. You could use 5w50 as a good alternative.
