She was not as sexy as the M1 Abrams, but she was reliable and served well. That 105MM could center punch telephone poles at a mile away. I drove her for 4 1/2 years and you are correct, I never tire of hearing her roar, and the squeal of the tracks.

“Driver, halt!” You can definitely feel the entire track pitch nosedown as the center of mass rolls forward, especially from the TC’s seat.

That’s one of the cleanest running M-60 packs I recall seeing. Nary a puff of soot out the back. 👍

Thanks for that. Spent some time getting that power pack to run and shift right. I heard a few months ago that this tank no longer runs, which is unfortunate.

The first model of M49 is still in service in small numbers in Greek army. It has been upgraded in the mid90s with a Steyr diesel engine

Sorry that’s Not an A-3 there is no sensor near the muzzle . At best it’s an A-1 And It’s Not an A-2 because those did not have a 105 or 120 mm main gun …..

I wonder why they took off the thermal sleeve from the barrel?

Because it's not an M60A3. The tell is not a thermal sleeve but the belt of extra armor around the lower turret just above the turret ring. Based upon lessons learned from the Yom Kippur War, the extra armor was put on starting with the M60A1 RISE/Passive in the late 70s. Look at other videos of M60A3s and you can see almost a 3 - 4 inch vertical belt of armor unlike the smooth curve of the lower turret like earlier models. Also, and I can't see for sure, but there is no wind sensor or the mount for one on top of the rear turret.

My bad. I finally did see the wind sensor so it must be an M60A3, although very hard to see the additional turret armor belt.
