A couple of years ago I had left a comment lamenting the fact that Pandithji doesn't have the national exposure that he deserved. I had not cared to go through the comments" section after that. Today' when I checked finally, I am pleasantly surprised to observe that Pt. VK has so many admirers who rever him for his music and music alone!. I heard this great composition in 1982-83 from Dr. Prabha Atre in Chatri Navaratri at Dagadu Sheth Ganesh Mandir at Pune; and was literally lost! Then again after few months on AIR Saturday music concerts. Since last 15 yrs & more I have been searching it in the voice of Dr. Prabha Atre or anyone, but result was zero. Got one audio version from a Gujarathi lady singer; quite good one, but not to my satisfaction at par what had mesmerized first time! Of course this one by Pandit ji is 100% at par what was in my long memory! The voice quality, maturity, devotion, command; all at par Prabha Tai! Its but natural, since both are masters from Kirana Gharana! So happy today!

I wonder what is in the dharwad soil that it produced such musical geniuses

I wish Pandith VK were more media savvy. He is so focussed on his art that he neglects everything else. It is his nature. But the resultant problem is that much of our country is still ignorant of his genius. I am sure there are others like him. Media which spends days in discussing trivial issues has no time for simple man like Panditji simply because he is not a good speaker.
