This video is of a style of music called "Dhrupad", which is considered to be the root form of most Indian classical music. This form does not lay much emphasis on the "lyrics" but concerns itself more with the "sound" of the notes and how they are presented. A point to consider is that this form requires a lot of patience on the part of the listener since it takes time to build up. But patience is greatly rewarded. Hope you like it.

Taking nothing away from Pandit Kumarji, but I believe Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishraji's rendition is certainly on par if not a tad more sophisticated considering the duo are and have to stay in unison/sync across most of the period.

+Shivananda Prabhu Yesterday the great Pt VK performed at Kamani Auditorium Delhi. Sadly many people left after Kaushiki Chakraborty's performance in the first half. But I am sure those who remained were lucky and will spread the fame . Looking forward to next rendition. Feel blessed.

He has released only 4 classical music CDs, rest of them are devotional; all of them by Sagar music. Each CD has 2-3 ragas, extremely high quality music. You can buy them at www.amazon.in/M-Venkatesh-Kumar/dp/B00IA0AX7M. If you go down to "Frequently Bought Together" section you will see other 3 CDs. For some reason, not much of his music is released on CDs, probably because he is too shy. I have searched all over for his CDs and I could find only these 4. I love them so much that I have bought 2 copies of each of them, just in case if one gets ruined.
