Super cool rear sight better than most from that time. The old pined and welded metal on metal sights with very thin rear sight slots drive me insane on most old handguns.
@Gameprojordan

Those small sights are only good if you hold the gun one handed with your arm extended fully outward like how revolvers were held back in the day. Trying to aim with them in a modern shooting stance is beyond useless

Old Western Scrounger! OWS. I still have a WW2 50 Cal can full of dud, Italian 9mm ammo I got from them. Couldn't pass up the price. Cheaper than buying bulk 9mm projectiles. They're dirty. Primers are dead. Powder is good. And copper jacketed, lead core ball. Just have like 1600 to pull the projectiles out of. Haha.

What a lovely pistol! You can't say the French ever come up short on their aesthetics. Looks like it borrows some styling cues from the Sig P210, also one of the best-looking semiautos in my opinion.

@@jameshall1300 I got curious and did some research, and apparently while both the P210 (which was designed in 1947) and the MAC 50 (designed in 1950) are very visually similar to each other, the two pistols have very little to do with each other except that each one is based on one of the two prior French service pistols, with the P210 being effectively a licensed derivative of the SACM Modèle 1935A (ironically designed by a Swiss former Foreign Legion officer, Charles Petter), which won the French military pistol trials in the the mid 1930s, and the MAC 50 being operationally based on the MAS Modèle 1935S, which lost the pistol trials to the 1935A - which the MAC 50 actually looks more like - but ended up being produced and entered into service anyhow to fulfill a need for large numbers of sidearms early in WWII. So I suppose in a way they're a strange sort of cousins perhaps!

I wish someone like Palmetto State Armory would buy the licensing rights for pistols like this along with the weird Korean triple action hammer fired pistol. I love the historical originals but they're so rare/expensive that most people don't want to fire them once they buy one.... and that's like buying a split window Corvette just to park it in your garage and collect dust. It just hurts my soul.

the magazine slips I can see, but jams? maybe the ammo was too light for the spring. would have to use 124 gr. in a gun like this. or, polish the ramp and extractor. other than that I cant see why it would jam unless modern ammo tolerances mess with it.
