Ahh, the holiday season. We put up our decorations, shop the latest deals, and invite extended family members over for huge feasts. For many of us these traditions also include a lot of classic holiday films. Often topping the list: Home Alone and it’s sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. While watching the antics of little Kevin McCallister year after year, people may wonder about the star -- Macaulay Culkin. In the 90’s, he was arguably one of the biggest child stars and actors in general -- but what happened? We’ll tell you and the next time you sit down to watch Home Alone, you’ll know about the rise and fall of Macaulay Culkin and how the child star went from marquee films to reclusive life of riches without the fame attached to it.
A quick glance at Macaulay Culkin’s IMDB page showcases a lot of movies in very little time. The 1990s was packed with films, television shows, and guest appearances on various programs. Culkin was in his pre-teens and working more than most adults. Then after 1994 suddenly it all ended. Nine years without a big screen credit and our vision of Macaulay Culkin was left with the roles he played as a child star. So happened? How did Macaulay Culkin go from multiple big screen projects in 1994 to disappearing from Hollywood for nearly a decade? Did he follow the path as so many other child stars -- getting older and losing out on roles? Well, not quite -- and like many things in Hollywood, the story of Macaulay Culkin is not so simple.

You just don’t understand because you are immature, and you haven’t been through what he went through. Your not a teenager so you wouldn’t even understand what drugs are! By that logic, that invalidates Wade Robson himself for accusing MJ. How would we know? But we aren’t gonna use that fallacy, we are gonna use common since and logic. Literally do 10 minutes of your own research, it’s so obvious Michael Jackson was innocent. But if you wanna keep partaking in deplorable behavior, then you deserve no sympathy. Rip you if you are ever falsely accused to sexual assault, sike, because it would just br a taste of karma for you.

@@UnchainedEruption Watch An Open Secret on Vimeo if you haven't already. It's the adults around them that are responsible. The parents should now keep a very close eye on their kids if they decide to have them become a child actor. There are a lot of sexual predators in Hollywood. It's sort of an easy way for them to get in contact with kids. So they need to be monitored by the parents and do all available background checks on the person. Even then I would try to get the kid to audio record himself while in the presence of those types of adults. It would be all the evidence you need. The only problem then is if the person is so rich they can pay people off. If you find yourself in that situation you would need like a backer on your side. So in the end it sounds like more trouble than it's worth to risk it. Those creeps really do ruin the best of things.

a fail would be not being able to find work and struggling. Its more a long the lines of up and down really. He had it all, but a bad father, harsh upbringings, lots of money, fame, a roof over his head, but with all that came the life of any teen, drugs, not being cast as much and HE made the choice to walk away. Plus he gets those checks and makes bank and can do whatever he wants. IN this day in age where nostalgia is the in thing to cash in on, many stars are making a comeback, while embracing what made them stars and doing what they want and some doing very well. His life wasnt a fail just because of some rough patches, think he's done pretty well for himself.

Yeah, I disagree with the use of "fall" in the title but I think what it refers to are the early years. "Rise and fall and eventual redemption ten years later" doesn't really get those clicks. I'm really glad that he's doing better now. His appearance on Rogan was pretty great.

The fall would mean on his acting career. But in real life he left the entertainment industry to live a typical teen life. He lived free spirited as anyone with money would do. He did okay I guess. At least he didn't succumb too much to drug abuse or petty crimes like other actors did.

its hard on these kids who become huge in a few roles for a short time, then they're either typecast, or grow up less cute than the agents expected, and either way work dries up. They get built up so much, believe they're on the path to superstardom, only to be forgotten about a few months later when the next child star gets the big roles instead. A few years back i think a lot of us thought Mac was headed down a dark path, but since then he seems to be doing well in life. Good for him, hope he is happy.
