Eventually we gave the birds to a family friend who owned birds, so we knew they could take care if them, and we were told that eventually the birds passed away of old age. I did like them while we did have them, and I'm sure they had a great time with their new owners. For anyone wondering why we would give them away, birds require a lot of interaction and care, they're social and you have to regularly clean their cage. My parents were getting older and I was getting busy with school so we decided that someone will give them a better place to stay.

I used to fly Homing Pigeons in the Lower East Side of Manhattan as a teenager growing up ( Had them for about 8yrs before I had to tear the loft down ). It always amazed me how I would let my flock of 80 Canadian High Flyers out early in the morning and they would fly so high they'd disappear for 3 to 4 hours to come back with other pigeons that had different color bands on there feet. I miss the sport so much. This is why I can totally relate to the feeling of them coming back to you. I also bred 25% of the pigeons I had in my stock. So raising them from squeakers, hearing them squeak was a precious thing as well. Enjoy, it's so special..
